THE WINE CELLAR: In the Wine Cellar of Il Melone guests can enjoy a wide
variety of wines from all the regions of Italy. The
cellar focuses in particular on the renowned winemaking
tradition of Tuscany.
Tuscan red wines are at the core
of the selection. Among the most appreciated are Chianti
Classico, Nobile di Montepulciano, and Brunello di Montalcino.
Our selection of white wines includes
Vernaccia di San Gimignano, one of the most esteemed
white wines of Italy, which is produced exclusively
in the Borough of San Gimignano (in the province of
Siena and not far from Il Melone).
THE RESTERAUNT AND TAVERN: Il Melone has both a Restaurant and a Tavern-Wine
Bar. Full and half board are available to guests at
a substantial saving (see terms and conditions)

EVENING SUMMER CONCERTS AT
BORGO IL MELONE: As per tradition, from June
through September 2005, a rich concert programme featuring
classical music, chamber music and Jazz is organized
in the enchanting settings of Borgo il Melone. Every
Monday from 7:00 p.m. guests and members of the club
“Friends of il Melone” may benefit of an
outdoor live concert, an opportunity for us to share
a pleasant time together. The programme starts Monday
the 6th of June with the presentation of the Tuscan
and Umbrian Sun Concerts bill. A special event Sunday
the 4th of September from 10:00 p.m. : The Perfidia
Quartet will perform Cuban music from the film Buena
Vista Social Club.
THE
CHURCH AND GETTING MARRIED IN CORTONA: Residence
Il Melone has it’s original chapel still intact
and consecrated for mass and other church services.
The rich frescoes decorating the nave
still preserve the brightness and intensity of the original
colors made, according to ancient techniques, with a
mixture of natural materials, such as lapis-lazuli powder
and eggs.
The chapel has always been the heart
of the traditional life in the complex in times gone
by. Religious ceremonies such as christenings and weddings
are still celebrated today, upon request by our guests.
It is the ideal location for intimate and exclusive
ceremonies.
Getting married at the Borgo: the
Chapel.
The Chapel is located in the center
of the rambling structures that make up Residence Il
Melone. The wide frescoed vaults of the nave testify
the most relevant moments in the life of the community.
If you wish to celebrate your wedding
in the chapel of Borgo Il Melone, the managment will
put you in contact with the local parish priest, who
will help you organize the ceremony and assist with
the preparation. All the guests of Borgo Il Melone can
use the chapel to celebrate ceremonies free of charge.

"We met three years ago in the Cathedral square
in Cortona. He is from Milan, I came from Florence.
It was love at first sight and we decided to move in
together. We wanted to make our dream come true with
a great ceremony, a gathering for both our families,
unfortunately rather large, and for our closest friends.
The frantic pace of everyday life
left us with very little time to organize what we believed
would be the most intense moment in our relationship:
our wedding day.
We got married in May. At that time
of the year the dazzling beauty of the Tuscan countryside
is at its peak. In Borgo Il Melone we found everything
we were looking for. The ceremony was fabulous and very
romantic. The banquet was even more magical, it had
been prepared with care and looked elegant as well as
welcoming, exactly like the atmosphere that surrounded
us on that unforgettable day ."
