The Antinori family, famous for its
wine production since the 1300’s, is happy to

Fonte de’ Medici is comprised
of three clusters of wholly restructured and newly equipped
farmhouses surrounded by vineyards. The name itself
goes back to 1400 when travelers between Florence and
Siena would rest and drink from the spring that still
passes through the village of Santa Maria a Macerata
before continuing on their journey to the nearby Badia
a Passignano, then a powerful Benedictine monastery.
Each of the charming apartments is
named after grape or olive varieties, reminding you
that you are in the center of the most famous wine and
olive oil producing areas in the world.
The
heart of Fonte’ de Medici is in the small historical
village of "Borgo S.Maria a Macerata", characteristic
of the Chianti countryside, with its houses made of
stone, brightly colored plaster walls, and little central
square and chapel. There are 7 apartments in this place,
five are found within the same structure that houses
the reception while two more are located apart.
Santa Maria a Macerata also houses
the reception and common areas of the complex, the swimming
pool, restaurant, conference room, wellness center and
tennis court. The other two farmhouses, Podere Tignanello
and Podere Vivaio, are located five minutes drive away
on the hill facing Santa Maria and are easily reached
by following a picturesque country road that intersects
the vineyards.
Podere Tignanello is a completely
renovated and restored hamlet, all in stone, which consists
of 7 apartments, dominating the vineyard of the same
name, with breathtaking views. Each apartment is named
after a Tuscan grape variety, recalling the wonderful
location in the heart of Chianti.
Podere di Vivaio is a completely
renovated and restored residential country Villa, dominating
the lake of Buca del Granchio with a great view over
it, the villa consists of 3 apartments , which are named
for the local olive trees surrounding. Every apartment
is completely equipped to permit a comfortable weekly
stay.
ACCOMODATION: Santa Maria a Macerata. The heart
of Fonte’ de Medici is in this small historical
village characteristic of the Chianti countryside, with
its houses made of stone, brightly colored plaster walls,
and little central square and chapel.
Here you will find the reception,
restaurant, tennis court, wellness center, a small conference
room for up to 80 people and the swimming pool as well
as some of the accommodation. Every thing is surrounded
by nature and facing the vineyards of Tignanello and
further away the Valley of the Pesa.
The
other two farmhouses, Podere Tignanello and Podere Vivaio,
are 5 minutes drive away, located in the hill facing
Santa Maria and easily reached by following a picturesque
country road that intersects the vineyards.

THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING
ENVIRONMENT: There is a beautiful, new double
tank swimming pool (14 x 8 meters or 45.93 x 26.25 feet) that overlooks the vineyards of Tignanello and Solaia
and is well furnished with sun lounges and pool towels.
HISTORY: Recorded
history shows Giovanni di Piero Antinori joining the
Florentine Vintner's Guild in 1385. Successive generations
of Antinoris produced wine and influenced the course
of central Italian winemaking and wine regulations,
especially in the last 30 years.
Piero, son of Marchese Niccolò,
who guided operations for more than sixty years of the
20th century, has been President since 1966. He comments,
``More things have changed in the past 20 years than
the previous 200. We know that using a combination of
our own Chianti traditions, coupled with innovation,
we can produce wines with qualities they didn't have
before, wines with unique complexity, charm and personality."
Today Piero's, three daughters, Albiera,
Alegra and Alessia, represent the 26th generation of Antinori's active in the company.
LOCATION: Fonte de’
Medici is near to Tavarnelle in Val Di Pesa as well
as with easy reach of most important Tuscan places of
interest. The nearest airport is Florence airport less
than an hour, Pisa is about an hour and Rome air ports
are both about three hours by car.
The property is with in easy reach
of Lucca, Pisa, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra,
Arezzo and the seas side.
