Il Giardino Segreto provides a small
number of delightful bedroom suites and mini apartments
centred around a walled garden in the medieval centre
of Pienza, a medieval borgo with a renaissance palace
and cathedral. Famous for it’s wine and cheese.
 In
the historical centre of Pienza ‘Il Giardino Segreto’
is tucked away behind high stone walls that shelter
a magical and peaceful garden full of flowers and aromatic
plants with shady corners for reading a book and garden
furniture for propping your sight seeing weary limbs
on.
It offers 2 bedroom/bathroom suites
and three mini apartments restructured inside of a 17th
century villa. "Il Giardino Segreto" offers
the opportunity of a peaceful and relaxing stay in an
area rich in cultural and natural wonders.
ACCOMMODATION: All
the rooms, three apartments and two double rooms, look
onto the garden. They have maintained the original structure
and characteristics of traditional Tuscan architecture:
tile floors, original wooden beams, large fireplaces,
furniture in the simple and functional  Tuscan style.

Please note that the apartments do
not have telephones. Guests to whom this might be important
are advised to bring a cell phone with roaming. There
is a public telephone near by in the village and the
phone number of the manager can be given in case of
lost luggage.
Guests may pull right up to 'Il Giardino
segreto' to load and unload their lugguge but on a day
to day basis cars must be parked in the village car
park, about a 2 minute walk from the property.
 THE
GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: The garden
is a total delight, it ha been carefully planned and
is lovingly tended. It is possible to distinguish two
different areas in the garden: "il giardino della
luna" (the garden of the moon) a shadier, more
appropriate area for reading, rest and meditation, "il
giardino del sole" (the garden of the sun) sunnier
and lighter.
In five minutes or so on foot one can leave the walls
of Pienza behind and become immersed in the natural
beauty of the surrounding Parco Naturalistico della
Val d'Orcia. Aside of waving fields of grain, olive
groves and vineyards there are areas of protected natural
woods teeming with wild boar, deer, pheasant and other
animals.
LOCATION: ‘Il
Giardino Segreto ‘ is about 1 ½ hours from
Florence, one hour from Siena and 45 minutes from Arezzo.
The nearest airport is Florence. Rome and Pisa are equidistant
, about 2 ½ hours by car.

NEAR BY: just out side the door of ‘Il
Giardino segreto’ one can enjoy all the delights
of Pienza, a town rich with art and culture and well
endowed with award winning restaurants.
There
are the Renaissance buildings of Pienza, the square
with the Cathedral, the museo Diocesano, the Pieve di
Corsignano and also other nearby towns such as Montepulciano,
S Quirico and Montalcino and the small villages of Bagno
Vignoni, Monticchiello together with the Parco Naturalistico
della Val d'Orcia.
In the surrounding country side it
is possible to go hot air ballon riding, mountain biking,
horse riding, wine tasting or simply relax in one of
the many thermal spas that are in the area.
Please note: This property does not
have air conditioning. Air conditioning is rarely necessary
in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity and the temperate
climate.  Almost all of our properties at InTuscany are
in remodeled medieval or renaissance buildings. They
generally have very thick walls and high ceilings, most
are built on the tops of our gently rolling hills where
they catch the breezes that spring up at mid day and
in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning is only
found in the city centers or at sea level where noise
and/or humidity make it necessary. We do not have air
conditioning in our offices or in any of our own homes.
