Il Borghetto is located along the old gravel panoramic road to San Gimignano, it is a nice walk during the day with open views of the countryside and the towers.
The property lies on the side of a hill within the municipal borders of San Gimignano.  The little cluster of buildings is perfectly situated in the midst of the splendid Tuscan countryside , surrounded by olive orchards and vineyards for the production of fine oil of the highest quality and fragrance, and Vernaccia , the white wine praised by Redi in his Dithyrambic of Bacchus in Tuscany
Il Borghetto was restored respecting the different architectural and historical periods in which it was built, recovering and valorizing the structures, and highlighting the elements and portions that go back even as far as the Middle Ages.
ACCOMMODATION: The accommodation is divided into apartments of different sizes and typology to better satisfy the varying needs of the guests.
All apartments are equipped with the following comforts: heating/air conditioning, kitchen with microwave/grill and freezer, dishwasher  (in the larger apartments), cable TV, telephone. Some have a fireplace and all are furnished to recreate that typical Tuscan atmosphere that is characterized by the style and taste that have always distinguished this region.
All the apartments have a well equipped kitchen with a cooking board, sink, refrigerator with freezer, microwave with grill function, dishwasher (only in the larger) apartments, toaster, moka (Italian coffee maker) and all the main kitchen utensils. Each apartment has Satellite TV with international channels and a direct dialling telephone.

 HISTORY: The history of Il Borghetto plays a part to the history of the great Villa of Pietrafitta of which it was a section.
From historical research we know that initially it belonged to the Cattani family who were a noble feudal family at the beginning of 1300.
In 1410 the Villa of Pietrafitta , together with Il Borghetto, was purchased by the noble Florentine family of the Acciaiuoli, and they retained ownership until their decay. Then, in 1598, Il Borghetto became property of the Archbishop of Pisa Carlo Antonio Dal Pozzo.
In 1806 Il Borghetto was purchased by the Dr. Antonio Moggi of San Gimignano who was at the time Chief at the Chamber of the Grand Duke of Tuscany in Tunisi.
In 1867 Maria Victoria Dal Pozzo Della Cisterna, who was an heiress of the Archbishop, marries Amedeo di Savoia Duke of Aosta, son of the king Vittorio Emanuele II, therefore Pietrafitta became the Villa of Her Royal Highness  Duchess of Aosta.
In the following years, the heirs of Dr. Moggi sell IL BORGHETTO to the Savoia dynasty and they remained owners of Pietrafitta and its farms until 1946. In this year it became property of the Countess Alba Balbi Valier, who was famous for having introduced the D.O.C. for the Vernaccia wine of San Gimignano and the Chianti Colli Senesi in 1966.
In recent age, the owners were the Cameli family, oil tanker entrepreneurs from Genova, and finally the Agricultural Society Pietrafitta that in 1999 sells Il Borghetto to the Bimbi Family who are the present owners.
THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: The Villa is surrounded by a large park with secular Cypress trees where the guests may stroll through vast green areas abounding with plants, colourful flowerings and typical scents. To further relax in the peaceful Tuscan countryside, the guests may also  enjoy a pergola with wrought iron tables and chairs and a large swimming-pool (m 16x8). The swimming pool is at the top of the slope where all the villa is located; is open for our Guests with any restriction. It is amidst olive-oil trees, there is a boundless view of the area from there, in bright days you can also see the mountains 80 kms away.
There are outdoor spaces in the common areas: sofas in the courtyard in front of the main entrance of the villa, tables and chairs under the pergola in front of the Restaurant (please note that during the three evenings a week when the Restaurant is open, this space is dedicated to the Restaurant guests), space by the swimming pool, table and chairs in the garden.
For wine and food lovers, it is possible to dine in the garden or in the caves, from late April three evenings a week- Saturday, Tuesday, Friday - by candlelight , with traditional Tuscan dishes and home- made recipes: our guest will feel at home, warmed by the best wines and extra-vergin olive oil from our own production.
 LOCATION: Il Borghetto is in a central location: close to all major sights in Tuscany at easy driving distance, though 2 km off the beaten track.
San Gimignano is just 3 Km away, and is a symbol and treasure beloved by all humanity, safeguarded and protected by Unesco for its art, history and culture. The other major Tuscan historical tourist zones are all nearby: Firenze 40 km, Siena 30 km, Arezzo 90 km, Volterra 30 km, Pisa and Pistoia 90 km, Lucca 100 km, the Chianti region 30 km and the Tyrrhenian sea 90 km away.
Airports: Firenze Peretola 50 km, Pisa Galileo Galilei 80 km.
FACILITIES: There is a fully equipped laundry at the disposal of the clientele. Upon request not included in the price: cradle, baby sitting, mountain bike, domestic help.
There is a large Supermarket just outside Poggibonsi on the road to Il Borghetto, 6 km from here. The region has a great culinary tradition; everywhere you go you can enjoy the wonderful dishes of Tuscan cuisine, accompanied by the fine wines.
Sport and nature enthusiastic may take excursions on foot, on horseback or on mountain bike and wander through woods and vineyards, ruins of old churches, castles and lovely old farm buildings. Golf Club (18 holes) is 12 km away, tennis-courts and horse-riding are 4 km away.
