David and I meant to send an email
a looooong time ago to let you know how our stay was
at Il Cassero last May, but never have gotten around
to it! We had an absolutely fabulous time!!!!! The weather
was HOT the whole time we were there, a festival was
on in Lucignano the whole week we were there, and everything
was absolutely perfect! We had no trouble finding Lucignano,
although had to finally ask where Il Cassero was, and
were very kindly directed…Luigi and Antonella
and their family were wonderful hosts…very friendly
and helpful.
Our room was lovely…bed cozy,
kitchen more than sufficient, atmosphere just what we
had hoped for. Il Cassero’s location was perfect
for la festa…right across from the park, so if
we weren’t in the park, we could enjoy some of
the festivities from the garden! We ate several times
at restaurants…all wonderful, and several times
in the garden…so beautiful! The walk to the pool
was gorgeous…really this place is the perfect
mix of a village and country stay…you are right
in the village for restaurants, etc., but just a couple
minutes’ walk and you are in the midst of olive
groves and hear nothing but the birds while you lay
in the sun by the pool or picnic with delicious olives,
cheese, and tomatoes.
The village was the perfect size for
us…plenty of choices for restaurants, bars, shops,
and supermarkets, but small enough to not get lost and
to get to know the people there! We didn’t sight-see,
except for one day, but just stayed in town and enjoyed
La Maggiolata, the food, the weather, and the people…we
couldn’t have asked for a better holiday! We tried
the best we could with our little Italian, and everyone
seemed to understand us just fine…it’s amazing
how much you can say with your hands and head nodding!
We hadn’t ever been on a trip
anywhere before, and were very nervous about going,
and wouldn’t have gone if it hadn’t been
for your very informative and helpful website…all
the information not just about the places to stay, but
about Tuscany in general, and even tips about driving
in Italy…a very thorough site! And you were very
helpful and prompt every time I emailed you with any
questions! Thanks so much for helping us to make this
trip…it was my dream come true, and we will definitely
be travelling again!!! Please feel free to post my comments
on your site, and please put in a good word for Il Cassero!!

Dear Rebecca,
Just a quick note to let you know
that we had a fantastic holiday. I have fallen in love
with Italy. Very glum to be back at work now however!
The weather was a bit iffy for the
middle part - lots of grey clouds and thunderstorms
but it made us feel at home! But we were most impressed
with the standard of both appartments. In particular,
we loved staying with Luigi at Il Cassero. He was a
lovely host and made us feel very welcome. What a great
introduction to the infamous italian hospitality. His
home is certainly unique and situated in a beautiful
village. We were extremely impressed with his swimming
pool also.

us with a great trip. Many happy memories to cherish!

Hello Rebecca...I just wanted to give
you feedback re our most recent stay at Il Cassero.
We had a wonderful time and Luigi was the ultimate host...we
loved the Alcova and it was more than we had anticipated.
We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend Il
Cassero to our friends. We will go back again...thanks
