Originally a typical 17th century
Tuscan farmhouse, today Le Coloniche has been completely
restored, retaining its traditional features: wooden
ceiling beams, antique furniture and ancient fireplaces.
It is situated high up in the Montalbano
hills, set amongst olive-groves, orchards, woods and
facing the beautiful Valdinievole valley.  Guests are
offered well out fitted and spacious apartments, carefully
furnished to respect the Tuscan tradition of “Arte
Povera” whilst also considering modern comfort
and luxury. There
are multi terraced spacious green areas and a beautiful
swimming pool measuring 8 x 16 meters (about 52 ½
x 26 ¼ feet). All overlooking the surrounding
hills and woods.
Relax by the swimming pool, take
walks along the woodland paths, ride a bike or go golfing
at the nearby golf course… choose from these pleasures

ACCOMODATION: The
property consists of two farm houses:
The Main House with 7 apartments,
and Villa Perticaia Alta with 2 apartments.The Main
House is built on 2 levels and has 7 apartments all
furnished to a very high standard withoriginal fireplaces
and massive ancient chestnut beams both inside and out.

All
apartments are provided with dishwasher, refrigerator,
washing machine, oven, iron, ironing board, hair dryer,
safe, telephone with directexternal lines, tv with
satellite and decoder, independent heating. Villa Perticaia
Alta is divided in two apartments and is 400 square
meters total.

At InTuscany we inspect and vet our
properties very carefully,we feel that it is perhaps
more important to tell you what’s bad about a
 property than what’s good. We only select properties
where we would like to stay our selves and have very
exacting standards.
Please note that this villa is built
very close to the Auto Strada (3 kilometers or about
2 miles away) despite this we still feel that it is
very good value and a pleasant place to stay. Over all
it can be glimpsed from the swimming pool and a low
rumble of the traffic heard when at the pool area. The
owners have done every thing possible to minimize the
impact by planting a thick Cyprus hedge to obstruct
this part of the view and installing a delightful massage
fountain at one end of the pool which effectively creates
white noise.
Note for handicapped or movement impaired
guests: one apartment has handicapped facilities. To
reach the pool area there is a small flight of stairs.
These apartments are not suited to smokers; the management
asks that people do not smoke indoors.
 THE
GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: The estate
comprises 25 hectars and the apartments are completely
immersed in olive groves and various other “fruit
trees”. In the garden there is a patio and a BBQ
area. A few steps lead to the beautiful swimming pool
that has a very relaxing hydro jet feature and is surrounded
by cypress trees. The pool has its own changing rooms
and lockers with keys. Part of the garden is prepared
for children’s with swings and a slide.
LOCATION: Residence
Le Coloniche is near to Montecatini Terme (5 minutes
in the car) as well as with in easy reach of most Tuscan
places of interest: Florence (25 minutes) , Siena (an
hour and a half) , Pisa (30 minutes) , Lucca (20 minutes)
and Versilia Seaside (30 miutes), Volterra (40 miutes),
Pistoia (10 minutes) and Vinci ( 15 minutes). The nearest
airport is Florence. Pisa airport is one hour by car
and Rome 3 and a half hours.
OTHER FACILITIES AVAILABLE
NEAR BY: Tennis and Thermal Spas (Montecatini,
5 km), golf (the nearest one is in  Montecatini, then
Prato, Tirrenia and Florence), the beach (40 km), horse
riding (10 km), bike riding (they have bikes for free),
hiking ( there are several trekking paths), wine tasting
(both at the property as well as nearby), fabulous dining,
designer out let shopping ( near Florence).
SURROUNDINGS: The management at residence Le Coloniche make a special
effort to advice guests on the best things to do and
see in the area. They are very knowledgeable and can
tell you about the most evocative places, advise you
on the most welcoming restaurants, suggest the most
interesting activities. Below you will find a few of
their suggestions, which as of now are not yet well
known by the majority of tourists.
Please note: This property does not
have air conditioning. Air conditioning is rarely necessary
in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity and the temperate
climate. Almost all of our properties at InTuscany are
in remodeled medieval or renaissance buildings. They
generally have very thick walls and high ceilings,  most
are built on the tops of our gently rolling hills where
they catch the breezes that spring up at mid day and
in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning is only
found in the city centers or at sea level where noise
and/or humidity make it necessary. We do not have air
conditioning in our offices or in any of our own homes.
