This
beautiful holiday property has recently under gone a
very careful restoration which has lasted fifteen years
and according to the owners has provided them with a

comparisons to finish with a historic architectural
gem which will provide a suggestive and enriching back

THE
GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: The Pieve
di Caminino is a working farm. All the guests are invited,
if they like, to visit the farm in order to experience
real Italian country life, which is constantly changing
with the rhythm of the seasons: the grape-harvesting,
the olive picking, the cork harvesting.
The property covers an area that extends
for 500 hectares (1236 acres) including: forest, olive
groves, vineyards and arable land. The forest is one
of the most beautiful examples of Mediterranean scrub
that also supports suggestive red and gray cork oaks,
providing a harvest every year of cork used for wine
bottling.
The bulk of the property is mostly
planted with olive groves. These trees are very picturesque
with all their gnarled and twisted trunks and silver
green leaves. They are often subject of drawings and
paintings by the artists who come and stay at Caminino.
Hundreds
of years old these trees are also the source of Pieve
di Caminino’s exceptionally fine extra virgin
olive oil, obtained from the cold pressing of Caminino'
s olives. The extra virgin olive oil is made from a
careful selection of the Moraiolo, Leccino, Correggiolo
olives and production is limited to just 1,000 bottles
per year.
The Marrucchi have been producing
this oil since 1873. It is considered with pride one
of the strongest traditions of the family.
During your holiday at Pieve di Caminino,
you will be invited to taste this precious natural product
inside the atmosphere of the suggestive 11th century
former church, together with a glass of local red wine
which is perfectly suited to the taste of this simple
and antique dish of toasted local bread, garlic, salt
and Pieve di Caminino extra virgin olive oil.
Although this property does not have
a pool it has a very romantic pond in a glade that is
perfect for sun baking by, with shady areas for delicate
skins and sun lounges etc. For those who fancy a dip,
the beach is not far away.

Pieve di Caminino is a private property

The Cathedral of Massa Marittima:
A multitude of interesting places lie in the vicinity

of S. Salvatore a Giuniano, Vetulonia and S.Galgano)
all are within a 40-minute drive.

HISTORY: This is the famous fresco "Guidoriccio da Fogliano
all'assedio di Montemassi",by Simone Martini, XIV
century which resides in Siena but the battle took place
by Caminino
“Caminino, a perfect marriage
of History and Nature,
the sum of Elegance and Human
Intelligence,
one of those holy places which
You will never forget...”
(Marie-Noëlle Hervé,
Le Monde journalist)
The ages have
passed, but life in Caminino has almost always continued
with the same harmony. Tradition says that the Christian
martyr Feriolo died here, killed by the Roman persecutors,
and as a miracle a water spring came out of the land,
where he lay down. This became an invitation for future
Christians to settle there.
Pieve di Caminino also has much more
antique origins, dating back to the age where the Etruscans
used to work copper mines in the near by Roccatederighi
area. In Caminino different religions were superimposed
one upon each other, first Etruscan divinities, then
Roman and at the end Italianate. For more the two thousand
years people of different origin, culture and tradition
have felt the need to settle in this idyllic and tranquil
spot. By the end of your holiday you will know why and
not want to leave your self.
