Podere Casanuova is a sleepy ancient
hamlet on the outskirts of San Gimignano, restored from
a crumbling 17th century farmhouse (listed on the antique
Leopoldino land registry). It has been bought back to
life and will provide you with every thing necessary
for a memorable and relaxing holiday in the heart of
classic Tuscany.
 The
podere offers every modern comfort yet retains all the
period charm of the original 17th century buildings
and the flavour of agrarian Tuscan life.
From behind the thick stone walls,
it provides a quiet and peaceful refuge, a place in
which to retire to, from the heat and noise of city
life in an atmosphere of old world tranquility.
The magnificent views of the surrounding
countryside, where olive groves, woods, fields and the
towers of San Gimignano mingle together in a patchwork
of colours and sunlight will enchant you, leaving an
indelible impression for years to come.
ACCOMODATION: The
apartments are spacious (approximately 80 m2 or 861.1
sq. ft.) and beautifully furnished with antique Tuscan
furniture in keeping with the style of the property.
They all have fully equipped modern kitchens, comfortable
sofas in the sitting areas and satellite T.V.; central
heating, telephone and burglar alarms. Washing machines
are included in the bathrooms and a high level of  security
is maintained throughout.
The
ground floor flats open onto their own private gardens
while those on the first floor have access to the spacious
grounds surrounding the complex with a designated and
secluded private area for each one, well furnished for
out door dining and relaxing.
Each apartment is colour coordinated to reflect the
beautiful vibrancy of the Tuscan countryside; the views
from the windows are superb. The owners have succeeded
in creating a pleasant and romantic atmosphere beautifully
furnishing the apartments with antique Tuscan furniture
in keeping with the style of the property.

 This mini-flat is furnished with
rustic furniture and opens onto a roof terrace, which
is furnished for use as an out door sitting room near
the swimming pool.
THE
GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: The swimming
pool (7 x 14 meters or 22.97 x 45.93 ft.) is situated
in an area of natural beauty above the house, where
it has commanding views of the surrounding countryside.
It is in a very open, sunny spot so
the water in the pool is always pleasantly warm. The
rectangular shaped pool has a circular stair case for
entering and exiting the water. The sun terrace surrounding
the pool is paved in natural stone interspersed with
areas of greenery to meld in a simple and elegant way
with the surroundings.
There are sun chairs and loungers
on the terrace with umbrellas to provide shade even
during the hottest hours of the day.
SPORT AND FREE TIME:
 - Mountain bikes are available free
of charge.
- Riding stables for horse riding in the beautiful countryside
are a short distance from San Gimignano.
- A Tennis Club is also nearby and scooters and additional
mountain bikes can be hired locally.
- An 18-hole golf course is approximately 20 km or about
13 miles from the Podere.
Please note that there is 800 meters
of well maintained gravel drive to reach the villa.
This will not present a problem for guests with ordinary
cars but could cause concern for those of you with extremely
low slung Ferraris.
LOCATION: Podere
Casanuova is near to San Gimgnano as well as with in
easy reach of most important Tuscan places of interest.
The nearest airport is either Florence or Pisa which
are equidistant (about one hour and 15 minutes) Rome
Airport is about 3 ¼ hours, Arezzo 2 hours, Siena
45 minutes, Central Florence, just over an hour.
 Podere Casanuova is only 2 km. or
just over a mile from the historic centre of San Gimignano
and its characteristic restaurants, and bars where one
can dine inside and out.
The
Mediaeval City of San Gimignano is one of the great
centers of the lovely region of Tuscany. Famous for
its unique tall towers, the richness and history of
its architecture and art treasures, it is also a place
where, since Etruscan times, people have known “how
to live” and where every season culminates in
joyful celebrations, the Sagre, the Saint’s Days,
the grape-harvest and the picking of the olives, the
wine festivals. These local traditions are part of everyday
life. Every day brings its own joy and pleasure-from
dining outdoor in the evening (alfresco) to taking a
siesta under the leafy branches of an old oak.
Other lovely cities well worth visiting
in Tuscany are easily reached; Florence is only 45 km.
away; Siena 35 km.; Volterra 28 km. and Pisa 60 km.
The Tuscan coast is 60 km, if anyone fancies a day at
the seaside.
