Villa di Corsano is a working wine
estate dating back to the XVII century immersed in the

home. The seventeenth century farmhouse has been divided
into eleven apartments. Only four of them are rented
to tourists and the others remain for the extended Migone
family, who are the owners.
On arrival you will be warmly welcomed
by members of the family who all speak perfect English. Once a week you can join the cooking
class held by Signora Migone herself who will teach
you how to prepare typical Tuscan dishes.
In this peaceful atmosphere you can
almost go back in time and bake your own bread in the
outdoor oven, pick fresh organic vegetables from the
garden and fruit from the trees, eat ‘al fresco’
under the brilliantly starred sky of Tuscany.

the original villa gardens have many 100’s of
years.
Due to the temperate climate and countryside

Corsano is near to Siena as well as with easy reach
of most important Tuscan places of interest. The nearest
airport is Florence (one hour and 10 mins) and Pisa
(under two hours) Rome (3 hours and 15 minutes by car).
The Villa is located in the little
hamlet of Ville di Corsano, whose Romanic Church known
as ‘La Pieve’ dates back to 11th Century
and is world known as an extraordinary example of that
period (percorso Giubileo).
In
the centre of the town there is a tower which dates
from medieval times, one of the four from which the
Fattoria has taken its origins. There is also a castle,
Il Castello di Grotti that hosted the prestigious Piccolomini
family.
In the village itselfyou will find the Romanic church
'La Pieve' (dating back to the 11th century), the local
supermarket, a post office and three restaurants, Castello
di Grotti, Pulcianese, Il Ristoro and a winery.
The villa is a real ‘home from
home’ where you will be able to leave your worries
behind, and let the time go by. It is a wonderful base
for a holiday with a difference, and is easily accessible
to the highlights of central Tuscany.
The high point of the area has got
to be the walled city of Siena (easily reachable by
bus), protected by its imposing red walls from the destruction
of modern developers.A vitally important influence
on the Renaissance, in vigorous competition with Florence,
it has a fantastic concentration of palaces and art
galleries, churches and museums, restaurants and boutiques.
There is an active and exciting social calendar of exhibitions,
concerts and markets, dominated by the world-famous
Palio which takes place twice a year in the beautiful
frame of Piazza del Campo on 2nd July and 16th August. The owner of the Villa, the Migone family, also belong
to a ‘contrada’: the Civetta (Owl) and they
will be happy to give you a guided tour and explain
the traditions.
A feudal manor house dating back
to 1199, the Castle of Belcaro, is half an hour away,
the same distance as Torri, a tiny village with a magnificent
cloister in a perfect state of repair.
Another
Abbey not to be missed, less than half an hour away,
is San Galgano, the oldest example of pure Gothic architecture
in Italy of which only the walls remain standing open
to the sky.
Other local attractions include the
town of Monteroni D'Arbia (10 km) with several bars
and restaurants, a large supermarket, banks and a post
office.
The nearby town of Murlo is also well
worth a visit for its Etruscan ruins and small museum.
Murlo itself affords breathtaking views of the surrounding
countryside especially at sunset.
A spectacular drive through Asciano,
will lead you into the heart of the lunar landscape
best known as the clay hills or ‘crete senesi’
and on to the famous Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore,
founded in 1313 by three prestigious noble families
of Siena: the Piccolomini, Tolomei and the Patrizi.
It is now home of Benedictine Monks. who observe a rigorous
vow of silence, inviting those who visit to pray and
reflect.
OTHER FACILITIES AVAILABLE

bike riding, hiking, wine tasting, fabulous dining,
thermal spas, Hot air balloon flying, designer out let
shopping, Etruscan ruins and Renaissance and medieval
art and architecture.
Please note: This property
does not have air conditioning. Air conditioning is
rarely necessary in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity
and the temperate climate. Almost all of our properties
at InTuscany are in remodeled medieval or renaissance
buildings. They generally have very thick walls and
high ceilings, most are built on the tops of our gently
rolling hills where they catch the breezes that spring
up at mid day and in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning
is only found by the sea side or in the city centers
where noise and/or humidity make it necessary. We do
not have air conditioning in our offices or in any of
our own homes.
