a relaxing holiday.
Villa Quercia is on the top of a small
hill, surrounded by 2000 square meters or 21,530 square
feet of park. 500
meters or 1,640 feet above sea level insures that the
ambient temperature is always 3 to 4 degrees less than
on the plain,some thing you’ll be glad of in
the searing summer months.
Villa Quercia is only 800 meters or
yards from the village of Sassetta and 12 kilometers
or about 7 ½ miles from the seaside at Marina
di Castagneto, so that you can have the best of Italian
village life and beach culture whilst still being able
to escape to the cool privacy of your apartment in the
chestnut forest.
The house has just been refurbished
to a very high standard, the floors are in a light tile
throughout, kitchens and bathrooms included. The fixtures
and fittings are of a high standard, in harmony with
the surroundings.
From all the apartments the easterly
views stretch across the "Pian delle Vigne" plains and on to rolling Tuscan hills dotted with Medieval
villages.There is one upstairs apartment and
two on the ground floor.

there is good reception for guests own cell phones.

THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING
ENVIRONMENT: The garden is large and shady
with ample space for rowdy ball games.
The pool is located in an ample paved terrace and is shared with the clients of Villa Il Castagno.
LOCATION: Villa Castagno
is near to Marina di Castagneto (the seas side) and
Livorno as well as with easy reach of most important
Tuscan places of interest. The nearest airport is Pisa
(about one hour). Florence airport is an hour and a
half and Rome about 3 hours by car.

bike riding, hiking, wine tasting, fabulous dining,
thermal spas, Renaissance and medieval art and architecture.
THINGS
TO SEE AND DO: Villa Castagno is situated on
the famous “Strada del Vino” making it perfect
for wine connoisseurs it is also near by L'Oasi di Bolgheri
which is a WWF bird sanctuary.
Swimming is possible in all seasons
at the thermal swimming pool in Venturina, with the
water temperature stable at 37 degrees.
You can visit the famous cities of
art which are close enough for half day excursions,
Florence, Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, Massa
Marittima, Perugia, Assisi. Elba, 45 km distant (about
28 miles) is easily reached by car (and ferry from Piombino).
Thanks to a network of well maintained
country roads there are many possibilities for cycling
and mountain biking. The area offers superb beaches
for sunbathing and clear, clean sea for swimming, sailing,
windsurfing and scuba diving. There are scuba diving
schools at Baratti and San Vincenzo.

for flying over the rolling Tuscan hills.There are several
stables in the area that offer guided excursions on
horseback.

Please note: This property does not
have air conditioning. Air conditioning is rarely necessary
in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity and the temperate
climate. We do not have air conditioning in our offices,
in any of our homes or in any of our larger rental villas.
