Between
olive and cypress trees in the peaceful Tuscan countryside
lies Sant'Anna in Camprena, the 15th century former
monastery, in which you can discover the frescos of
the Sienese artist Sodoma.
The monastery,
(chosen also as the magical set of the film :The English
Patient"), is 5 kms from the delightful renaissance
town of Pienza, both of which offer splendid views over
the Val d'Orcia.
One km south
from Sant'Anna still part of the monastery domain is
"Podere Camprena" an old country house, now
the summer residence of Centro d'Arte Dedalo. Here,
sculptors Sarah Baker and Stefano Breschi, along with
visiting painting and fresco tutors, offer courses in
various visual arts designed for people of all ages
and levels. From professionals wishing to expand their
skill set to amateurs wishing to try their hand.
Podere Camprena provides simple clean accommodation
for 10 people whilst typical Tuscan meals accompanied
by the excellent local wine, are prepared and served
in the monastery. There is a large painting studio equipped
with easels and drawing boards and ample sculpture studio
space.
Bicycles are
provided, for those who wish to explore further a field
for painting inspiration. At Sant'Anna it is also possible
to learn Italian.
The Courses
All our courses are organized in a relaxed and social
atmosphere; they offer the opportunity for students
to come and continue to develop their own personal way
of working, under the guidance of an experienced tutor,
as well as offering an option specifically tutor led.
Our objective is to create friendly
group situations, where like-minded people, from diverse
cultures, can meet to talk, exchange ideas, and above
all create. We seek to facilitate the act of creation

the quantity required by participants.
