Il Casolare di Libbiano is a stones
throw from the famous towers of San Gimimgnano and a
verdant oasis of peace and tranquility. It is perfectly
located for all the important Tuscan points of interest.
Perfectly private, immersed in greenery,
this delightful property is the perfect place for a
classic Tuscan stay.  Far from noisy traffic, blaring
televisions or load stereo players, Berta and Andrea
have created a haven of good food and generous hospitality.
ACCOMODATION: Between the Tuscan hills, in a little sixteenth-century
village, about eight Km. from San Gimignano, in the
middle of nature, silence and art, "IL Casolare
di Libbiano" has three suites and five double bedrooms.
The owners, Berta and Andrea, have restored the farmhouse
completely, respecting it’s original architecture
and atmosphere.
The villa has been furnished with
antiques, all lovingly restored by Andrea who was an
antique dealer in his past life. Each room has original
paintings, interesting porcelain and art objects, creating
a charming and original atmosphere. Berta and Andrea's
idea is to offer, with their discreet presence and courtesy,
a memorable holiday. They want you to really relax and
get away from daily life and so  (please note) that there
are no telephones or televisions at the villa other
than at reception. (there is good cell phone reception
for guests wishing to bring their own telephones equipped
with roaming.)
All of the accommodation at Il Casolare
has stunning views of the Tuscany countryside. The common
areas of the house: sitting rooms, terraces etc. offer
particularly comfortable places for reading, for conversation
and to listen to music, they are also furnished with
shelves containing books and games for children and
adults.
You
can find there: four double bedrooms with en suite
bathrooms.
One double bedroom with adjacent
bathroom Alba Suite which is one bedroom sleeping four
people (two in the bedroom and two in the sitting room)
 and has a private terrace.
Junior suite which sleep two in the
bedroom and one in the sitting room.
The Dependence which sleeps two in
the bedroom and two in the sitting room.
All bath rooms come equipped with
a hair dryer and all beds are orthopedic and between
King and Queen sized or full adult sized if single.
Accommodation at Il Casolare comes
with the evening meal included. Berta is a passionate
cook and prepares genuine and traditional dishes from
the seasonal products produced on the farm and in the
district. Her cakes are legendary and she is also quite
happy to cater to vegetarians and other restricted diets.
 THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING
ENVIRONMENT: All around the villa, as far as
the eye can see are forested hills, olive groves and
vineyards. In the orchard garden, around the house,
there is an splendid swimming pool (6 x 12 meters or
19.69 x 39.37 feet) with comfortable sun beds, immaculate
lawns and mature Roses, lavender and Rosemary.
LOCATION: Casolare di Libbiano is near to San Gimignano as well
as with easy reach of most important Tuscan places of
interest. Please note that there is 3 kilometers of
gravel road to reach the villa and it is not suitable
for low slung sports cars.
The nearest airport is either Florence
or Pisa which are equidistant (about one hour and 15
minutes) Rome Airport is about 3 ¼ hours, Arezzo
2 hours, Siena 45 minutes, Central Florence, just over
an hour.
 HISTORY: The village
of "Libbiano" is located on the top of the
"Monte Castagno".
Its origins date back to the 12th century when "Messere
Borgatello" gave the "Camaldolesi" friars
the Church of "San Pietro", so that the whole
village could become a monastery.
We know that during the centuries
this monastery was transformed in to a farm and that
in the 15th century was property of the "Ardinghelli",
one of the most important and famous families of "San
Gimignano". From then on "Libbiano" has
been famous for it’s wine and olive oil production.

in a wood centuries old, makes it possible to pass a
really different holiday in contact with the nature
and the art. In fact, walking or with the mountain bikes
(available to guests free of charge), you can find really
splendid itineraries.

the other hand, it’s central position, makes it
possible to visit, nearby, the biggest art cities in
Tuscany: San Gimignano 8 Km., Volterra 30 Km., Siena
45 Km., Florence 60 Km., Pisa 80 Km. Then after a long
day of sight seeing you will be delighted to return
to the peace and serenity of Il Casolare relaxing in
the pool whilst you anticipate the gourmet delights
of Berta’s evening meal. Others activities nearby:

Please note: This property does not have air conditioning. Air conditioning is rarely necessary in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity and the temperate climate. Almost all of our properties at InTuscany are in remodeled medieval or renaissance buildings. They generally have very thick walls and high ceilings, most are built on the tops of our gently rolling hills where they catch the breezes that spring up at mid day and in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning is only found by the sea side or in the city centers where noise and/or humidity make it necessary. We do not have air conditioning in our offices or in any of our own homes.
