The suites "La Città Ideale"
are three suites within an ancient building located
in Pienza's historic centre. Each suite can accommodated
two people with a third bed for a child and are all
equipped with air conditioning, mini bar and satellite
Television.
 The
suites can be rented individually or together for up
to six couples (with three additional child beds).
They are located in Pienza, a village perched on a beautiful
hill in the midst of the rolling farmland of Tuscany's
Val d'Orcia. At the height of the 15th-century Renaissance,
humanist Pope Pius II, with the help of architect Bernardo
Rossellino, converted the tiny village in which he had
been born into the ideal Renaissance city (“la
città ideale” in Italian).
The Pope never achieved his goal completely,
for all Pius's dreams, Pienza never became more than
a grandiose village. However it remains a stunning jewel
of Renaissance architecture and the only intact example
of a city-planning scheme from the era.
Today Pienza is no more than a handful of spacious side
streets within the village’s proud medieval walls.
The views over the surrounding countryside are some
of the most picturesque (and pictured) of all Tuscany.
 In
2004 the Mangiavacchi family converted an old family
building within Pienza's historical centre into three
independent suites and called the place La Città
Ideale in reference to Pope Pius’ original ambition
for the town. They have renovated, designed and decorated
each suite with the greatest care to make it an "ideal
place" to stay.

Please note that there is no telephone
in any of the suites but public phones and an internet
café are steps away in the village. The suites
do not come with hair dryers or laundry facilities.
Guests may have a permit to enter the village to load
and unload their luggage but during the stay cars must
be parked in the village car parks which are 5 to 10
minutes away on foot.
Major shops, wine cantinas, museums, monuments and restaurants
are within walking distance literally five minutes away.
LOCATION: La Citta
Ideale is in Pienza which is near Montepulciano as well
as with easy reach of most important Tuscan places of
interest. The nearest airport is Florence airport (about
an hour and a half). Pisa is two hours and Rome about
three.
