The view from Corte Del Sole stretches across fields of wheat and sun flowers, medieval villages and rolling hills down to Lago Trasimeno, which is cupped in the gentle folds of the Tuscan landscape like a sparkling, shining jewel, polished to perfection and cradled in the most exquisite verdant green velvet.
 Corte del Sole was built as a monastery and resting place along the road from Chiusi to Arezzo by the brothers of the order of Santo Stefano. The main buildings can be accurately dated to the 16th century but there is some evidence in the records of the monastery that the Renaissance buildings were constructed over remaining foundations from the paleocristiane era, fourth century A.D. It has been said that Santa Maria stopped here, after the death of Arsenio, on her way to Cortona to rest.
Today the original and harmonious architecture of the buildings has been lovingly preserved and embellished with the finest antiques, fittings and fixtures to create an exclusive and refined holiday destination of the best quality.  ACCOMMODATION: All the apartments have been restored with a view to preserving the original harmonious integrity of the architecture. As a result no two are identical. In common they all have centralized air conditioning and heating, a bathroom for every bedroom, private indoor and outdoor dining areas, minibar, a small safe for your valuables and a kitchenette that is elegantly disguised inside a cabinet so as not to be obtrusive. They are all decorated with antiques, paintings and every attention given to luxury and comfort.
All the suites are centrally air-conditioned and the worn stone stairs are partially covered with narrow red carpeting to muffle any sounds of other guests in passing.

THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING
ENVIRONMENT: The grounds around the buildings are immaculately manicured, gravel pathways lined with lemon trees in terracotta pots, lavender or clipped rosemary hedges lead you to the pool that is flanked with grape vines and fruit trees. Guests are encouraged to help them selves to the produce that they find around them in this veritable Garden of Eden.
Beside the pool is an elegant gazebo made of cast iron and white  shade sails that provides the perfect place to repose out of the fierce Tuscan Sun. Mountain bikes are available for those who wish to get out and about in the area with out using their cars.
RESTAURANT: Breakfast is provided for guests who would like to indulge themselves. It is served in what was once the grain storage building. The original brick archways that allowed the large teams of drays to deposit and pick up the grain has been glassed in to create an atmosphere infused with natural light. The tables are all set with the finest mongramed linens and silver wear and the glasses are engraved. This is a place of refined luxury and elegance.
The menu consists of an abundant selection of the finest local foodstuffs, light and flaky pastries, as well as more Anglo Saxon choices such as eggs and bacon upon request, cereal and the best British teas.
 LOCATION: Close by to Montepulciano and Cortona, Corte del Sole is also with in easy reach of Florence (1 hour and 20 minutes) Siena (one hour) and many other important Tuscan destinations.
