The Relais Club Le Anfore is a comfortable rural guest house right in the heart of the Italian peninsula: at Sarteano, in the province of Siena, renowned for its hot-water springs and for the Giostra del Saracino, a traditional horse jousting event with ancient origins.
 All around is the relaxing scenery of the Tuscan and Umbrian hills, the Chiana valley and lake Trasimeno. A land in which every historical era, from Palaeolithic, through Etruscan, Roman, Medieval and Renaissance, have left their unmistakable and fascinating signs: from the archaeological findings of the Chiusi Etruscan Museum, to the medieval beauties of Pienza, Montepulciano, Assisi and Città della Pieve, all nearby.
You need but travel a few dozen kilometres to be in Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, or Orvieto: art cities that are the envy of the whole world. At the end of a busy day of intense sight seeing and gourmet eating, Le Anfore is the perfect place to return to, surrounded by the peace and harmony of the beautiful Tuscan country side.
Le Anfore is about one hour from both Florence and Siena by car.
 ACCOMMODATION: In an old re-structured farmhouse, there are two suites and seven double rooms. There is a third suite is a short drive away. All bear names of prize horses reared on the property: Carroll House, Bob Back, Atoll and other formidable thoroughbreds, many time winners of the Gran Prix. There is a photo in each room of the horse that the room is named after.
Arranvanna Suite: Has one double bedroom, one bathroom and a sitting room Atoll Suite: Has one very large bedroom with sitting area and large working open fireplace. One bathroom.
La Chiesetta: has two bedrooms, one bathroom, sitting room and balcony with views of the vineyards.
La Chiesetta: is on the grounds of the owners estate, rather than with in the agrarian building complex. It is a few minutes drive form the reception area. La  Chiesetta was once the old chapel on the estate. It comprises a large sitting room with mini kitchen, bathroom and on the mezzanine level a double bedroom. Guests in the La Chiesetta are invited to use the owner's private swimming pool as well as all the facilities of the main agrarian complex. Please take note that this pool is a private pool and has no lifeguard so swimmers are at their own risk.
The original architectural integrity of all the buildings has been maintained. Each room has the refined simplicity of exposed wooden beams and terracotta floors, the traditional atmosphere of antique furniture. Discreetly tucked away one can also find the comfort of our age: showers with hydro-massage, direct telephone, TV and mini-bar.
RECREATION: For some relaxation coincides with rest. In this case the quiet of a country resort like Le Anfore and the surrounding scenery is the best of guarantees. Here everything flows with the regular rhythm of nature, that centuries  have left untouched.
For those who prefer to forget the fatigue of work by putting mind and body into enjoyable and healthy activities there is plenty to do. In the main part of the complex one finds the reception centre, a bar, a fine restaurant and a solarium for cooler weather. There is also an attractive clubroom for card and table games. Out side is a lovley pool with a slide, mountain-bikes, table tennis and the winery with it's tasting room. A short drive or bike ride away in another part of the property the Relais Club Le Anfore offers tennis, bowls and volley ball.
The swimming pool is 12 x 6 meters with a machine to create a false current for swimming aficionados and a very exciting slide for children.
Nearby, 3 km away, is a golf course and stables that offer horse riding.
 Meal times are gift for the eyes, delight for the palate and nourishment for the body. The Relais Club Le Anfore's restaurant exclusively serves the best dishes of Tuscan tradition, genuine and rich flavours, accompanied by the produce of the estate:
From the vegetable gardens, the olive groves, the vineyards and the animals in the farm yard. Olive oil and precious wines can also be tasted directly in the cellars of the estate. The chef decides the menu each day and with notice will gladly cater for people on restricted diets.
Close to the Relais Club Le Anfore and part of the same estate there is an equestrian centre for horse-trekking. It offers riders from amateur to professional the opportunity to practice their favourite sport in the ample riding paddocks or on long and fascinating treks through the country and hillsides.
The wines produced on the estate are exported all over the world. Tradition, passion and experience guide the vintners of Le Anfore as they combine antique traditions with modern technology to produce fine wines that carry with them the message and characteristic of the soil in which they were born.
 Guests who are staying during the harvest are invited to participate if they so choose.
Please note: This property does not have air conditioning. Air conditioning is rarely necessary in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity and the temperate climate. Almost all of our properties at InTuscany are in remodeled medieval or renaissance buildings. They generally have very thick walls and high ceilings, most are built on the tops of our gently rolling hills where they catch the breezes that spring up at mid day and in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning is only found by the sea side or in the city centers where noise and/or humidity make it necessary. We do not have air conditioning in our offices or in any of our own homes.
