Here’s what the Irvines had
to say about Palazzo Busgraghi:
“We stayed at the Palazzo Busdraghi
for 2 nights of our honeymoon in Feb 23, 2005 and had
a delightful stay. The Palazzo is located on one of
the main streets within the walled portion of Lucca
so its a perfect spot to get the feel of the older part
of the city. It took us a while to find which "Porta"
was drivable by car -- through Porta Santa Maria.
The staff spoke enough English for
us to get by. Since we were one of two guests during
midweek, we were given our choice of their 7? rooms.
The Palazzo is newly renovated, very clean, all the
rooms are tastefully decorated with new furniture as
well as antiques. We found the busy street charming
but if the noise becomes a problem the room had heavy
wooden shutters and drapes. The bathroom was large and
spacious. The breakfast room was bright and cheerful
and the breakfasts did not disappoint: pastry, bread,
cheese, ham, juice, cappucino, yogurt, cold cereal,
fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs. Staff was courteous and
even brought us tea and biscotti one evening after coming
in from a cold day's site seeing. Also has a sauna for
2 and a little sitting area for sipping wine in the
evenings.
To get up to the hotel level one must
climb about 1 1/2 flights of stairs, something to consider
for elderly or handicapped. There is no elevator. Parking
is offsite down the street 2 blocks.
There's a nice wine bar a couple doors
to the right of the Palazzo and we enjoyed a great meal
at Osteria Baralla near the Roman Amphitheatre a few
blocks away.
We would recommend it to our friends
and would return again.”
