Villa
Belvedere, built in 1504, stands at the centre of a
large estate in the heart of Chianti Classico. Surrounded
by it's own olive trees, vineyards and forest, Villa
belvedere is an elegant and noble country home, perfect
for a peaceful and enjoyable retreat.
The Villa and its estate have been
in the same family since before 1500 and upon entering
the main salon this feeling is evident. The public rooms
of the villa are for the use of it's guests. They are
graciously furnished with Classic Tuscan antiques that
have been in the room since they where purchased when
new and lovingly cared for and restored over the years.
The
floors are original terracotta covered with glowing
Persian carpets. From the chestnut beamed ceiling that
soars many meters overhead are suspended exquisite Venetian
glass chandeliers.
Guests are invited to take their breakfast
in the breakfast room that is adorned with cabinets
stuffed full of rare and precious family china and that
looks out over the most stunning panorama of the entire
valley and the estate of the villa. The walls are hung with important
paintings and family portraits whilst contemporary photographs
of the family are scattered around the rooms in heavy
silver frames.
In
the late afternoon guests tend to gather in the main
drawing room to admire the view that is unchanged since
the 16th century and or play a leisurely game of billiards
in the adjoining billiard room.
ACCOMMODATION: At Villa Belvedere you will not feel
like a client but rather like the important guest of
a noble Italian family who could return at any moment.
The area surrounding Villa Belvedere
has been renowned for it's wine making since 1054. Today
the wine on the estate is made as it was then and is
for sale to guests of the villa along with the olive
oil and other products of the Estate.
Every room has some thing that makes it special, be
it a stunning view or a private loggia that over looks
the main courtyard. They are furnished with antiques
in traditional Tuscan style. There are also two, two
bedroom suites perfect for families or close friends
travelling together.
In total the villa has only 6 double
bedrooms and one single and so other guests are always
at a minimum. Both English and German are spoken at
the reception as well as Italian. The nearest shops are 4 kilometres away. Please
note that the rooms do not have telephones, however
calls can be placed in Francesco's study.
Villa Belvedere is like some thing
from a beautiful romantic dream of another era.

are both about three hours by car.

bike riding and hiking.
The property is with in easy reach
of Lucca, Pisa, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra,
Arezzo and the seas side.
Please note: This property does not have air conditioning. Air conditioning is rarely necessary in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity and the temperate climate. Almost all of our properties at InTuscany are in remodeled medieval or renaissance buildings. They generally have very thick walls and high ceilings, most are built on the tops of our gently rolling hills where they catch the breezes that spring up at mid day and in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning is only found by the sea side or in the city centers where noise and/or humidity make it necessary. We do not have air conditioning in our offices or in any of our own homes.
