My sister and I and 3 friends spent a wonderful month (mid-May to mid-June in 2005) at Villa Demata and are ready to go back for a month in 2014!
We found Villa Treggiano almost perfect in every aspect of our stay. We were met at the arranged location and escorted to the Villa. Whilst the road to the Villa was a little daunting at first we did manage to overcome the challenge. The view from the patio area was breathtaking! Our hosts had generously provided provisions including a selection of cold meats ,juice, olives, wine and breads etc. The kitchen was also well supplied with all utensils etc. The bedrooms were very large, one of the bathrooms was narrow but more than adequate. Whilst we used the Villa as a base for touring it could just as easily been utilised as a one stop venue with the swimming pool and BBQ coming into their own. The cooking class arranged by our host was a highlight of our stay. We certainly enjoyed our stay at Villa Treggiano. Two very minor things are all that we can suggest. A few hanging hooks in the bathrooms that can accommodate towels, and perhaps a full length mirror. We found their advice and hospitality extremely good - don't change anything!
Our family have come back several times to Ripa d'Orcia - the location is lovely - quiet, with lovely views and the apartments are spotless, gardens equally well maintained. It has the added advantage of course to be close to so many places to explore - siena, florence - the list goes on. You do need a car - there is a good 10 minute drive to shops and restaurants.
We had an amazing stay at Ripa d'Orcia!!! Paolo and his family made our family feel so comfortable. The property is a great size and given its remote location, the kind of place you let your kids run around and don't worry about anything happening to them. This is a very special place!
We stayed 1 week in Ripa d'Orcia in august 2011. Great place, very quiet and very friendly welcome from Paolo. Very nice views in the Val d'Orcia covered with vineyards, olivetrees in the tipical tuscan hills. Excellent starting point to visit Montalcino(15 km), Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Siena(40 km), Montepulciano(25km), Crete Sinese... The Ripa d'Orcia is situated along a "strada bianca"(5 km) from the village of San Quirico where you can find food-shops, restaurants, bakery... The appartment was very clean with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living. Outside each appartment there is a patio with furniture and umbrella. Nice, big swimmingpool, lovely garden with barbecue and parking area for the car. Bike-rent is possible too and we did some very nice, technical MTB trips jn the region with a lot of climbing and downhill activity. A lot of visits possible in the region at the local farms to taste the home-made products such as wine(Rosso d'Orcia IGT), olive-oil and honey. Very good restaurants in villages as San Quirico, Montalcino, Pienza and Castiglione d'Orcia). Also the perfect region to taste the Brunello wine (Montalcino), the Vino Nobile di Montipulciano and the local Val d'Orcia wines... We enjoyed it very much and we will go back next year for the third time.
We were in June 2012 in Ripa d'Orcia. Nice appartments in an old beautiful restored medieval farmhouse surrounded by olives and grapes. We had the appartment Ginepro. It was very hot in Tuscany during our stay there but the house is very cool and pleasant, you can use free internet on your own devices. The big garden and the pool are well kept. There are a lot of comfortable chairs around the pool. There is enough shade under a huge oak tree and there are plenty of parasols. There is only one negative point to mention and that is the strada bianca of 8 km from san Quirico to Ripa d'Orcia. You'll have to clean your car afterwards because it will be all covered with white dust. But that strada is also positive there is less traffic and on the border of the same road we saw snakes, deer, rare birds and beautiful plants. The owners, father and son are friendly and helpfull. the younger ones speak English and the father speaks french. San Quirico is the village for shopping (Coop) and there are a lot of nice smaller medieval villages nearby. Near the pool we saw young Hoepoos!
I have stayed in and around Montalcino a number of times, normally out in the country, but as this trip I had a 20 month baby with me, I thought we would find someone where in a town. We found Santa Lucia and stayed for 9 days. The property is very unique as its within the walls of Montalcino but has some of the characterics of properties you would find in the country, namely the beautiful garden and pools. The pools are not large, as I believe they were once used to tan leather and were converted into pools, as building a pool within the city walls is forbidden. Regardless of the size there were more than adequate when used to cool off from the sun. As Montalcino is a hill town, there is a steep walk up to the main part of the town from the property. The climb is steep but short. Over the course of my stay I pushed a heavy baby buggy up the hill several times a day. To be honest the exercise took the guilt away from tucking into a big pizza or bowl of pasta heavy on the cheese when I got to the top. I stayed in Cannavacciuolo, with my wife and baby daughter, which is a lovely apartment and has its own private garden away from the main garden. The apartment was air conditioned and had a great wifi signal. The main garden is beautifully designed and full of culinery herbs growing everywhere that you can use if you wish. As most people were off exploring the region during the day, we had the garden to ourselves pretty much all the time. I noted a previous reviewer commented on a barbed wire fence in the garden, which from my stay is a misrepresentation. of the beautiful gardens of Santa Lucia. This reviewer also described Montalcino as a "decrepit peasant village", which I find absolutely delusional, and this person must have no experience of historical Italian towns. Montalcino is a beautiful Tuscan hill town. The town itself I believe strikes a perfect balance between a genuine working town for its inhabitants while also catering for the tourists that visit, without losing its identity. Lastly I would liked to mention the absolute professional way in which Lisa and Andreas manage the property. They always had geniunely smiles on their faces when you met them. To me they also both possessed a talent which I believe is rare in the hostipality business, and that is to instinctively know how much interaction each of your guests want, and then to provide that level. Normally I would be on the side of not needing a lot of interaction and to be left to my own devices, but during my stay my baby daughter became a little unwell. I asked Lisa if she could recommend a doctor I could bring her too. Lisa when away and back with an appointment for a local paediatric doctor and then insisted on accompaning me to the doctors to ensure there was no language difficulities due to my pigeon Italian. For all the above points, I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone who would like to visit and stay in beautiful Montalcino.
My family of 5 (kids age 11, 12 and 18) stayed at this wonderful apartment for 5 nights in July this summer. The managers Lisa and Andrea were amazing. A month before we arrived, I contacted Lisa to get suggestions on the best way to travel from the Riviera to Tuscany on a Sunday when many car companies were closed. She immediately began working on getting a driver and offered other options for taking a train to another city and then renting from there. Since we arrived in the evening, Lisa and Andrea had stocked the refrigerator with food for the next morning so we didn't need to shop. They were both very friendly and informative, with wonderful suggestions for restaurants and day trips. We stayed in the largest apartment, which was very spacious. The apartment was modernized, clean, and beautifully furnished. My children especially loved the pool and steam room. Even though the pool is small, it is very deep, so it felt wonderful to jump in to cool off. It was never crowded at the pool even though all the apartments were rented. If you visit in the summer, the pool is a must. This is the only apartment within Montalcino that offers a pool. This apartment was our favorite place that we stayed during our two weeks in Italy. Montalcino is a quaint and beautiful town which is centrally located in Tuscany, and the apartment is a short walk to town. The location couldn't be more ideal. We were so happy that we opted to stay in this village over any other that we visited. I highly recommend Santa Lucia!
We stayed in Santa Lucia the end of July for 1 week. Lisa and Andrea, just to let you know, we have literally thought about our stay there EVERY DAY since we've been home! You two are amazing people and we've never been made to feel more comfortable than we experienced staying with you! Great location. Great accommodations. They arranged for an amazing chef to come to our place for a cooking lesson for my family. We now have a new favorite dish. Steamed Zucchini Blossoms stuffed with Ricotta Cheese and pici pasta! We videoed our days cooking experience and have made the dishes we learned a few times now. The ingredients are not as amazing as they are in Italy but they still tastes great. Also, my first experience drinking wine was in Montalcino. How unfair!!! At the age of 50.... I now LOVE a nice glass of Brunello! Montalcino... An experience we'll never forget! Thank you again for a memory of a lifetime!!!
We went to Tuscany for our niece's wedding. The ceremony was at a castle in the middle of nowhere. It was suggested we stay in Montalcino so we could be within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We discovered Santa Lucia online and decided to give it a shot. What a great choice in turned out to be! It was a true Tuscan experience. It was very authentic but all the features in the apartments were very modern. Flat screen TV's (although we never turned ours on. We were in Tuscany!), lots of hot water, good internet, good AC, refrig, microwave, coffee makers, iron available, washing machine nearby. Beautiful architecture and landscaping. My wife and I stayed in the smallest suite and it was very spacious. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law stayed in the main house apartment, which is huge and amazing, Two stories. Two bedrooms with private baths. A third bath. Huge kitchen/dining/living area. Could have stayed for months. The best feature, however, is the folks who run it. Lisa Jane and Andrea were incredible hosts. They made us feel at home and gave us so much help in finding our way around, giving directions, recommending restaurants and wine shops, showing us how to make coffee Italian-style, helping make flight changes, etc. Lisa Jane was even able to arrange a private tour of Siena for us with a guide-friend of hers. One word of caution. Montalcino is beautiful but very hilly. Bring your comfortable shoes. And stay at Santa Lucia.
We booked the smallest studio, Basile' (the only studio without a kitchen) but it has a full breakfast set up, fridge, kettle and espresso machine for morning coffees outside. It is a beautiful, clean studio with plenty of wardrobe space for us to spread out for a weeks stay. We absolutely loved the little pool area and lazing around the garden. The location of this hotel is perfect for being close to town. Lisa and Andrea are the best hosts ever. They were so warm and welcoming it really felt like we were staying with friends. Lisa arranged some amazing winery visits for us. Pogio Antico and San Carlo, both were amazing Brunello producers. One was a slick sprawling but still boutique winery and San Carlo had the heart of all of Tuscany's wineries combined. We absolutely loved both, and the fact that one of the Brunello's we bought for 40 euro sells for over $300 in restaurants in Australia. I really cannot say enough good things about this place.
We were there for a week at the di silvestre apartment. The place is really nice the property sooooo cool and Andrea...awesome. Been inside the Montalcino walls it is great and an incredible experience.
From Wine Spectator, May 15, 2000 At Home in Wine Country LODGING AMONG THE GRAPES IN TUSCANY By Michèle Shah Today, wineries all over the world welcome visitors, but often, the standard tour and tasting can by rushed and rudimentary. A handful of Tuscan wine producers have taken the next step in hospitality: They offer accommodations on their estates and provide activities for wine-loving visitors and travelers who simply prefer a rural home base. These winery lodgings fall under the rubric of agriturismo, which started in Tuscany about 35 years ago. It is a growing business based on the concept that paying guests stay in houses or apartments on working farms. Compared with similar accommodations in other parts of Europe, the quality level has remained relatively low -- often these places are nothing more than medieval hovels with broken furniture, soft beds and cold showers -- but a handful of modern, well-appointed agriturismi are beginning to cater to a more demanding and sophisticated clientele. All of the accommodations in this report are located on working wine estates, and offer organized winery visits and tastings for their guests. Some also produce their own olive oil and have fully operational mills. Each lodging provides at least one swimming pool. Amenities can also include horseback riding, painting, cooking courses and catered meals. These establishments are a cut above any other agriturismo available in Tuscany. In addition to basic comforts such as heating, telephones and weekly housekeeping, they are clean, comfortable and well-equipped, with high-quality furnishings and kitchen appliances. The bedrooms have their own bathrooms, many with tubs as well as showers. Supplemental cleaning, laundry and cooking services, as well as extra beds and fax machines, are usually available at an additional cost and upon prior request. Some lodgings also provide air-conditioning, fireplaces and small gardens with individual barbecues. A friendly, English-speaking office staff is common, and each apartment or house comes with an up-to-date information booklet with useful clues on where to eat, the times/days of local markets and the telephone numbers of key offices such as banks, airports and stations. It is important to realize that staying at an agriturismo is more like renting a house than booking a hotel room, which means dealing with many chores yourself, from buying groceries to washing your laundry. The high season in Tuscany starts in May and ends in October. The rest of the year is mostly considered low season, with the exception of Christmas and Easter. Some places are closed in winter because they do not have central heating. Most bookings require a deposit, and very often, a minimum of a three-day to one-week stay is obligatory. Tucked away in its own 200-acre estate, Tenuta Castellina is off the beaten track, yet only a 10 minute drive or a 30 minute stroll from the medieval village of Castellina in Chianti with its wide choice of good restaurants. Nature lovers can admire a huge variety of flora and fauna, from wild boar and porcupines to prickly pear and seven types of wild orchid. The 12 apartments of various sizes can accommodate two, three or four people. The style is rustic, and each room has its own bath. The owner explains, "Most of our guests are couples interested in sightseeing and relaxing with a good book by the pool. In the evenings guests can socialize, enjoying a good bottle of Chianti in the wine bar or catching up with the latest news on satellite TV situated in the lounge." Warm, fresh bread is brought in for your morning breakfast.
From Bon Appetit, May 2000 THE SOUL OF TUSCANY Down on the Farm Staying at a working farm, known as agriturismo, is a great way to experience Tuscany. Accommodations range from simple to elegant; from rooms at wine estates to lodgings at small family-run farmsteads. Some owners allow visitors to participate in the venue’s daily activities, while others offer cooking classes or vineyard tours. In any case, the food is about as genuine as it gets, since most hosts do the cooking. These are a few good choices. Tenuta Castellina is 25 miles south of Florence, in Chianti. It is situated on a two-hundred-acre, fourteenth-century estate. This is a charming property that was recently restored.
Extracted from The Sunday Times, London, April 1997 IDLE PLEASURES The benefits of Tuscan agriturismo are refreshingly simple, says JONATHAN FUTRELL: good food, great wine, and idyllic scenery "Clinging to the contours of a hill, (Tenuta Castellina) is a farm right enough, but there is nothing promitive about it. A week or two at Tenuta Castellina is to commune with the sights, scents and flavours of Chianti without ever having to get your hands, or shoes, dirty. "The most strenuous activity here is following pairs of hoopoes on the valley path to Castellina. Passing cornflowers, junipers, rosehips, wild oregano, ivy, thistle, dozens of varieties of conifers and a profusion of lichen, it was the most active thing I did all week, and I didn’t even complete that: a local woman gave me a lift to the Co-op, where the food put Fortnum and Mason to shame."
Extracted from The Times, London. April, 1997 CHIANTI? I’LL DRINK TO THAT By GEOFFREY WANSELL "...Just a few minutes by car from Castellina, there have been dwellings on Tenuta Castellina’s 200 acres of woodland, vineyard and olive grove since the Etruscans, but now the entire estate is being restored. The grapes and olives are to be harvested again and the buildings have been carefully refurbished to retain their original features. "Hidden at the foot of its own two-kilometre long and suitably rutted strada bianca, it is one of Chianti’s newest secrets and opened its doors for the first time in the spring of 1996. "The apartments are not the tiny attic rooms of Florence, for each has its own terrace and individual bathroom and a hearth or wood-burning stove. Each also has its own view across the grapes towards the turrets of Castellina and provides an unsurpassable base for discovering Tuscany -- and Chianti -- in a style that those in pursuit of their own Room With a View over the Arno in Florence will never see."
From Preview Travel - Heaven in the Heart of Tuscany "Each of Tenuta Castellina's apartments features a kitchenette, terrace, and views of the farm's revitalized vineyards. The property is remarkable for the loving care with which it has been restored, and its live-in owners proved to be the most gracious of hosts... "...Tuscany is so rich that we could only sample a few of its pleasures. So we let ourselves settle into its gentle rhythms, promising each other that we'd simply have to return someday."
To “Tenuta di Creti” family. Thank you very much for a great vacation we had. Your hospitality and kindness is realy something special. We enjoyed the villa very much and we hope to come again, this time with our daughters.

Your warm and generous family allowed us to experience the best of Tuscany. When we go home we will encourage our friends to vacation here. Best wishes to you all
Barbara we very much appreciate all that you did for us. You were very helpful in your recommendation for restaurants. “Tenuta di Creti ia a beautiful place and very centrally located. We will always remember our stay and recommend you to our friends. Ciao
We feel very privileged to have been the first english family to have received the warm “Tenuta di Creti” welcome and would love to return soon. We have found it to be an ideal base in which to relax and for visiting the sights. One day I shall find out what heaven is like but until then I will imagine that a holiday at “Tenuta di Creti” comes quite close.
The website does not do this place justice. It is decorated to a high standard, is clean and tidy and fully equipped with large rooms - we stayed in Il Fienile. The space around the pool meant that our children could have a good run around and play safely. The pool was regularly cleaned and surronded by plenty of high quality garden furniture. Giovanni was very helpful in arranging a vinyard tour and answering the various queries we had about the area. A very reasonably priced holiday base that I would not hesitate to recommend.
Excellent agriturismo: very nicely set up two-bedroom two-bath apartments. Very private, lovely, well furnished. It is not a hotel, don't expect too much staff support. Be sure to visit the Bar Bagnoli, the best coffee bar in Tuscany across the street and down the road a bit.
My partner and I stayed here for the first week of July with another couple. From the outside the apartment looks attractive and we were not disappointed once inside. The apartment was great, very spacious and well decorated (we stayed in the Aia apartment), with everything you could need. The kitchen was well equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, filter coffee machine, fridge freezer and plenty of glasses, plates etc. The apartment was lovely and cool - thanks to the air conditioning and also having thick stone walls, which also helped. Upstairs there were 2 large bedrooms, both made up as doubles, each with an ensuite bathroom. One of the bathrooms had a number of ants, which I understand is common in the Tuscan countryside - however, we were provided with some spray, and the problem quickly went away. Outside, we had quite a lot of sitting area and a BBQ. We had a shared swimming pool, which was generally fairly quiet and as it was very hot, a nice temperature to dip into! Location - we travelled quite a lot around the area, as we had a car. However, the best way into Florence is certainly by bus - we found out everything we needed to know from the tourist information in the town. I would recommend this villa without hesitation and would like to return myself.
The best place I've ever stayed. Thanks a lot for the opportunity to be with you, villa Rovezzano!
Villa Ulivi is beautiful! They provided us with airport pick-up which is great because if it's your first time in Italy it's nice to have this service. the little town of Lucignano ( not easy to pronounce ) is really nice! Great restaurants!! Marco, the son of the owners provides tours around tuscany, we visited 4 small towns near by including Siena , Cortona and Montepulciano and they were fantastic villages all with amazing views ! We had a wonderful stay, the pool was amazing and our kids loved it!! they would stay with their grandparents as we toured Tuscany. We'll be back soon! Jake and Heather
The Villa was picturesque, beautifully furnished and clean. The views and the pool were amazing. Bernie and Francesca were very friendly and helpful.
Delicious weeks under the sun! The villa was even more beautiful than what we had imagined. The views and the garden added a lot to our welbeing there!
Beautiful Villa & Wonderful People! The villa was absolutely beautiful! Everything was great and the people there were incredible. We rented the villa for our wedding. Ten couples attended and everyone loved it there. The staff at the villa were nice and very helpful.
Villa Tavarnelle was perfect for our Gourmet Club of 16 adults. The location of Villa Tavarnelle meant we could enjoy the peace and beauty of the Tuscan hills and be close to Fierenze and Sienna for sight-seeing. Taverenelle was an easy walk and proved to be typical of any little Tuscan town. This meant that we could enjoy shopping, restaurants and a pleasant walk without using our cars. Tourist information provided us with hiking trail information which many of us happily used. Our on-site manager , Franchesca, was invaluable as an interrupter and source of useful information. The villa itself was beyond the expectations of all of us: beautiful pool, flowers, removed from the noise of traffic, exceptional views from all windows, accomodating rooms and bathrooms and well equipped kitchen facilities. Our welcoming meal was well worth the reservation and a wonderful start to an memorable vacation. I would not hesitate to rent on another occasion. Many thanks!
Wow! A relaxing well appointed holiday home. This is central rural position 6km from Torrita di Siena makes it easy to enjoy beautiful Tuscany. With easy day trips with a car to Seina, Arezzo, Cortona, Castiglione del Lago or Firenze to name a few. Quiet, comfortable with a very suitable kitchen facilities, all helping to make a very relaxing home base in the middle of the wine area. A good map and GPS navigation system is a must to find your way in this amazing countryside.
The sun shone on the beautiful views and we relaxed in lovely su! The location is delightful and once you get to the top of the hill the views are stunning - day and night. Francesca made us welcome after our long drive to Italy from GB then left us to relax and enjoy her comfortable and interesting home. Villa Ortensia is perfect for a complete getaway and quiet time, although with WiFi you are not isolated! It was very hot but the pool made that bearable and there were fans indoors to help us keep cool. Two weeks of precious family time with some over from america and one son joining us after his stint with the army at the Olympics. We all enjoyed ourselves and it was good not to have to worry about sorting out linen or cleaning - Francesca took care of all that - Hurrah! The road up is a bit daunting the first time but we managed with a large car fully loaded - just make sure your horn is working before the bends.
Manola / Paolo, You were right about the two restaurants in the village - they were both good food and really nice people. The house was really well situated with a beautiful garden - Donatella and her assistant Maria could not have been nicer. Thank you for all your help, we had a really good week. Many thanks.
Our group of 5 adults spent an enjoyable week in early May at I Cipressini, a lovely 3-bedroom Tuscan farmhouse located in the middle of fluorescent fields of yellow rapeseed and waves of lush green hay. And sprinkled in along the driveway for just another special dash: brilliantly red poppies. The house has been recently upgraded with a totally new Ikea kitchen fully stocked with all kinds of dishes, glasses, utensils, and cookware. The house has a dining room, living room with fireplace, a small, enclosed porch perfect for sunny breakfasts, a basement room with washing machine, and a separate family room facing wonderful Tuscan sunsets. The house includes cable TV and Wi-Fi. The owners are delightful and were very solicitous and attentive to our needs on our arrival--and the caretakers live in the next house across the field. Lovely Pienza is a 15-minute walk away via a quiet wooded path that suddenly opens up to incredible views over the Val d' Orcia as you approach the town. I Cipressini is famous in its own right as one of the most photographed places in Tuscany. In our week there in early May, literally scores of cars daily would stop on the road way out at the end the driveway and photograph the setting. And you'll find photos of the place in every postcard and calendar shop in Tuscany! We easily traveled from this home on short trips to Siena, Cortona, Montepulciano, Bagno Vignoni--and many other hilltowns in the Val d'Orcia. I Cipressini was a most special place to stay in southern Tuscany.
Dear "In Tuscany" Croci and Lazzari, Thank you for your enquiry. We had an excellent holiday based at the Villa Siena. The Villa was perfect for our large family with very good facilities, lovely rooms, good bathrooms, beautiful grounds and very good swimming pool. The cooks and food were first class. The owner and her son Jacopo were very attentive to every request, and made our stay very enjoyable. They are lovely people. There are no bad things to say. All the family agree. We had all ages from two small babies to three over 70s, and we all think the Villa is perfect for this sort of holiday. Thank you for arranging it. Best wishes,
Dear Croci and Lazzari, I have been meaning to email you since we got back - thanks so much for arranging the holiday in Casa Gaia for us, we had a really fantastic time. The house and garden were perfect for our family (we took a stair gate with us, and the downstairs and garden were ideal for our 18 month old - not many places are!) and the beautiful pool and gardens around it were a real highlight. The house was absolutely immaculate, very comfy, and had a really well equipped kitchen. There was even crockery and cutlery for the children. The only negative thought I can come up with is that a larger oven might be useful, but as it was 40 degrees when we were there we didn't do much cooking. The house was larger than we imagined it would be, and really exceeded our expectations. Annalisa was friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the surrounding area. She was there when we needed her, but unobtrusive when we didn't. We had a wonderful time! Best wishes,
Dear Manola and Paolo, Many thanks for your help with the booking. The house we rented, San Donato was perfect. It was very tastefully decorated, well equipped and very clean. It was also in a perfect location, very peaceful but also easy to access most of the sites of Tuscany. The estate on which it is located is beautiful and the views were great. Regards
We loved our time at the Villa Demata. It is a charming house in a spectatular setting. The house retains its old world country charm while being totally updated with modern comforts. We were a group of 9, ranging in age from 12 to 75, and everyone loved the villa. The bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was large enough for us to cook together. We had many wonderful meals at the outdoor dining area right off the kitchen. One highlight was an evening when Maria--the owner's agent -- arranged for us to have a private cook come to the villa, give us a cooking lesson, and serve us a gourmet 4 course meal. The greatest treat was the swimming pool, which is quite large and crystal clear. It is near the house, so we could enjoy the pool and be together at the same time. It was a truly wonderful holiday.
Hi Manola and Paolo, What can I say... our trip to Italy was a dream coming true and we will definitely be back in a few years. We drove to Francesca's beautiful Villa Ortensia. We made a couple of stops along the way in Viareggio and Marina di Massa. Her personal welcome was actually overwhelming. She is THE NICEST Italian person we met during our trip. We felt welcome and special to be staying in her house. Everything was there for laundry, dishes etc. We are very surprised that she prepared a few goodies in the fridge and offered a bottle of wine. We didn't even have to leave that evening to get more food. The villa is very well equipped and so peaceful that we ended up spending more time at the house than going touring. If possible, it would be nice to have Francesca's email address so that we can send her a personal thank you note. We were really sad to be leaving her villa and her too. She took so much pride and it sure made us feel special and like we wanted to be extra careful not to damage anything. She really is a one of a kind! Ah, now we are back for almost one week already. The kids are almost adjusted back to Canadian time though we still get up before 6am. We disconnected to so much in Italy that it is difficult to get back into our Canadian reality. I would like to thank you for your recommendations, especially of Villa Ortensia. Our trip was awesome. Best wishes for a nice continued summer... hopefully a little less hot!
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Angela! The home was comfortable and the kids enjoyed the pool! We hope to come back and stay in the Villa again in the future! Thank you.
Podere Fiore is a wonderful spot for a vacation of several days. It is a beautiful property, the pool is refreshing, the apartments are a good size and clean, and the host and hostesses make your stay extra special. ( The 3 1/2 hour dinner one night was outstanding.) Podere Fiore, located in Montepulciano Stazione, is central to many of the more popular sites south of Siena, but it is not close to any one of them. However, there are a couple of good restaurants and great gelato in town - only a few minutes away.
Hi Manola... We just got back yesterday from our italian vacation. Certainly, one of the highlights was our stay at Le Manzanaie. Fiore, Marzia and Alice are amazing hosts, and they really enhanced our stay. Their recommendations helped us to get the most out of our stay... We were only sorry that we could not stay longer! The podere is a delightful place and very convenient for touring the area. We are already thinking about return! All the best,
We had a wonderful holiday in Tuscany at Le Manzinaie - Alice, Marzia & Fiore were great hosts, the property is lovely and the weather was amazing! Thanks,
Dear Manola, Thank-you for requesting la Manzinaie. It was everything you said it would be and we were very impressed by the apartments, the gardens, the pool and especially Marzia, Fiore and Alice. Their friendliness and hospitality made the stay even more enjoyable. Thanks again for the recommendation.
Hi Manola, My husband and I have just returned from an amazing week at the Podere Le Manzinaie. Thanks to InTuscany we found the perfect spot to enjoy our week - our first (but now not last) trip to Italy. Marzia, Alice & Fiore were wonderful, gracious and very helpful hosts. The accommodations were top class - a testament to Fiore and Marzia's painstaking renovation. We met other interesting travellers and were made to feel completely at home and pampered. A highlight of the week was the fabulous home-cooked meal prepared by our hosts for the guests staying at Le Manzinaie that week. Great fun and an excellent way to meet terrific people from around the world. I'm so glad I discovered InTuscany, and will certainly recommend it to others. Please feel free to use all or parts of this e-mail on your website.
Hi Manola, My wife and I booked a trip with your company in June, and I wanted to let you know how thoroughly we enjoyed it. First of all, your services were excellent. I must admit that I was worried at first about doing the research over the Internet, and then giving my credit card to a company I had never met. Well, everything went exactly as planned. There were no surprises, and that's a good thing. Surprises are only fun on birthdays and Christmas morning. I also wanted to add a few words about the place we stayed, Podere le Manzinaie. We decided to rent there for a week, based only on the place name taken from a bottle of wine (Montepulciano), and on the write-up in your website. Well, we couldn't have been happier. le Manzinaie is a very special place in a land full of special places. This was our first trip through Tuscany, and we quickly noticed that there is no shortage of Agriturismo sites in the area. However, what the owners have done here is truly magical. Fiore took what appears to have been an abandoned building, and turned it into a guest home with just the right mix of old craftsmanship and modern conveniences. Marzia took it from there, and her paintings and embroidered pictures truly make each guest apartment a home. I had the impression that Alice is the computer and marketing genius, and the documents she prepared for our arrival gave us a real head start in touring the area. The best part of your write-up about le Manzinaie was your mention of the possibility of a home-cooked dinner, and we were not disappointed. We had a truly enjoyable experience, and it wasn't just Fiore's bottomless wine cellar. The food was great, there was an interesting mix of other guests, and even their dog Rufus seemed to be having a good time. This was an evening we could not have had any other way. The purpose of this trip was to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. After such a good time, we're looking for another excuse to make our next trip to Tuscany, and we'll certainly not hesitate to call on InTuscany again. Best regards,
Just a quick note regarding our time at Le Manzinaie. We had a truly wonderful time. Marzia, Fiore and Alicia were very friendly and accomodating. We felt like we were visiting family. I will definitely recommend the podere to all my friends. They are truly excellent hosts. We can't wait to return.
Le Manzinaie is a 19th century farm, a 15 minute drive from Montepulciano. It had fallen very badly into disrepair, but has been beautifully restored by Marzia and Fiore since buying it about 13 years ago. A labour of love and imagination. The little town of Montepulciano Stazione is within walking distance. It has a grocery store and a good meat market. There are several restaurants nearby, including a good pizza take out. There is an excellent restaurant in Acquaviva, "L'Angolo", a 10-15 minute drive. The food was exceptional, and reasonably priced. The sizeable town of Montepulciano has many interesting shops, historic buildings, a supermarket and a weekly outdoor market. Alicia, Marzia's & Fiore's 17 year old daughter has composed an extensive travel book, with 7 itineraries describing the towns in each. We found it more useful than the published guide books, and brought our copy home as a souvenir. There are 4 apartments in the main house - Glicine, Rose, Edera and Girasole. In the course of the extensive renovations, the traditional Tuscan architecture has been maintained, with stone structures, soaring ceilings and arches, tiled floors, and striking decor. Adera was our favourite. All are on the ground floor with private entrances. We stayed in Viole, a private 2-storey villa a few steps from the main house. The ground floor contains a large bedroom and a full bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and a sunny patio and lawn. The upstairs has a large bedroom with a lovely view of the grounds, and a full bathroom. The entire villa was immaculate, fully equipped , and attractively furnished. The immediate grounds comprise several acres. They are beautifully maintained, with many flowers, flowering bushes, shrubs and trees, complimenting the equally beautiful restored buildings. There is a pretty drive, lined with cypresses, from the front gate to the main house. The swimming pool sparkles. Le Viole has a private garden area by the patio. All the furnishings were in excellent condition, and comfortable. The living/dining room has a large table with 6 chairs, a large glass cabinet, pretty sofa, T.V. Not large overall, but plenty of room for 4 people. Both bedrooms/ bathrooms were ensuite. The bedrooms were spacious and attractively furnished. Beds were quite new and comfortable. The lower bedroom looks out on the patio and garden. The upper bedroom has a lovely view of the grounds. Both bathrooms are roomy. The lower has a jetted tub and shower, the upper a shower. The kitchen was roomy and equiped with a 4-burner gas stove top, microwave, toaster, refrigerator and North-American style coffee maker. China and utensils for at least 4 people, and ample pots and pans of good quality. There is no oven, except the microwave, but we cooked several full meals. When we arrived, the kitchen was stocked with fresh fruit, bread, biscuits, coffee, filters, tea, several bottles of water, a bottle of wine, and there were ham, eggs and milk in the fridge. It was obvious that everything had been bought just that day. There is a tradition at Le Manzinaie, that all guests are invited, at least once, to a traditional Tuscan dinner. Marzia is a gourmet chef, and with help from Fiore and Alicia, serves an exceptional many-course dinner. Much wine is served by Fiore, followed by liqueurs. The guests regale each other in several languages, while Alicia translates furiously. We did not have another meal in Italy that even came close, or was as much fun. The biggest bonus was the amazing affection that somehow developed between the hosts and their guests, in such a short time. In our case, while our privacy was always observed, anytime we needed help, all we had to do was ask. And it was given with such genuine warmth and good humour that before our 2 weeks were up we were fast friends. We dealt with Manola. She gave us accurate and informative details, and was able to tailor-make her recommendations to our needs and budget. The reality of Le Manzinaie certainly measured up to her description, and more. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? Absolutely. We've only been back home for a few weeks, and already we've recommended it to half a dozen friends who are planning trips to Italy.
Hi Manola, We would like to like to tell you just how much we enjoyed our stay at La Manzainie. From the moment we arrived to such a warm welcome, Marzia, Fiore and Alice made our stay so enjoyable. Alice saved us with her wonderful command of English. They were a wealth of information about restaurants, sights to see, trains etc. Marzia even made reservations for the Florence museums. They were just so helpful. Our "Rose" room was beautiful, so comfortable and pretty (the stencils done by Marzia are awesome). We found a bottle of wine, bread and all we needed for breakfast, again, so welcoming. We found the location perfect for what we wanted to do. We were able to go out everyday in a different direction to visit so many beautiful Tuscan towns. (Even an itinerary of the surrounding area was made up for us - nice touch). We felt that we had a true Tuscan experience. Of course, the wonderful dinner that Marzia, Fiore and Alice prepared one night for all the guests was just so much fun and the food was delicious. We would come home each night totally exhausted and, with a bottle of Chianti and whatever goodies we had found that day, relax by the immaculate swimming pool. Fiore would bring over fresh plums and figs - divine. One of our favorite times was after having been to where we bought local pecorino cheese, olive oil and pasta and came back to Marzia's garden where we picked eggplant, zucchini, peppers and tomatoes and had the most wonderful dinner under the Tuscan stars. This is a bit long-winded but there were so many lovely times in and around La Manzainie. Obviously, we highly recommend La Manzainie. Best Regards,
Dear Manola, Thank you for recommending us to the villa Le Manzinaie. We were there from Oct. 19th thru the 26th. Everything about Le Manzinaie was exceptional, the facilities, the hostess Marza, her family, and her surprise dinners which we rate as 5 stars. We would recommend Le Manzinaie to the Pope himself. Outstanding...outstanding....outstanding.
Dear Manola, We had a really great holiday in Tuscany! The two places that you chose for us were both superb and very well suited to our needs. Le Viole at Manzinaie was very comfortable and very well situated for the siteseeing that we wanted to do in our first week. As you said, however, it was the amazing hospitality of Marzia and her family that made the week so enjoyable. They really went out of the way to make sure that all their guests felt at home. Le Rocca in Monterchi was very special in its situation and spectacular views, and we also had a very good week there. Donatella was a charming and gracious hostess who allowed us to use the garden and pool area of the Palazzo as well, and gave us a very interesting tour of the Palazzo Marzochi. Thanks very much for your help - we'll be back to Tuscany soon, and will be sure to tell our friends about the service we received from InTuscany.Net Regards
My wife and I would like to greatly give a resounding recommendation to Marzia and family at Podere Manzinaie. They are just the most perfect hosts with the most !!. Enough could not be done to make you welcome and at home . The daily travel program they provided made our exploring of the area so much easier and total dedication to making sure you are comfartable seems to be second nature to them. We will be back next year! Please pass on to them our sincere thanks.
Dear Manola, What can we say. All we read about Le Manzinaie was true. We had a wonderful holiday (Summer 2004) and hopefully will go back sometime. We found Tuscany to be a different type of holiday than others in that we found a little bit of heavan at ‘Le Manzinaie.’ It was a just a wonderful spot and very hard to describe unless you experience it for yourself. When we were looking for a place to stay in Tuscany we found it hard to believe all the testimonials we read about Le Manzinaie, and here we are now adding to the list. Flori, Marzia and Alicia were wonderful hosts and couldn’t do enough for you. They had a knack of being there if you needed their assistance, however, giving you your privacy at the same time. We spent two full weeks at Le Manzinaie and enjoyed every minute. Within the two weeks we had dinner twice with our hosts and all the other guests. Both the food and the company were superb. We stayed in the ‘Le Rose’ apartment at Le Manzinaie. The apartment was very well equipped and very comfortable. On arrival we found a lovely basket of goodies. As we got delayed leaving the Airport we did not arrive till late, and these goodies were more than welcomed. The location of Montepulciano was perfect for visiting the Cities. We did day trips by train to Rome, Florence, and Piza. Travelling by train was both hazzle free and not expensive. We also travelled by car to Siena, Assisi and of course Montepulciano itself. Then other days we just lounged by the pool, read our books, and lit the BBQ in the evenings. It was magic. Thank you for helping us choose ‘Le Manzinaie’ as our place of stay. We reckon you won’t beat it. Kind Regards
Dear Manola, I just wanted to write to tell you what a fantastic holiday we had at Le Mazinaie. We loved every aspect of the place - the pool, the beautiful apartment and the fresh fruit and veg that Fioire would provide from the garden. Marzia and family did so much more than could be reasonably expected - from arranging itineraries to hosting 2 wonderful meals. We would highly recommend Le Manzinaie to our family and friends, and look forward to returning again in the future. Kind regards, ps - Marzia's english is better than your advert would have us believe - In addition Alice speaks perfect english!
Manola, My husband and I and my sister and her husband wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful stay at Le Manzinaie near Montepulciano in May 2004. Fiore, Marzia, and Alice were very gracious hosts of their wonderful country home. The accomodations and amenities at the Podere were excellent. The location was great as far as access to many towns and villages either by car or by train. We especially enjoyed the wonderful home cooking and comaraderie of the family when we and other guests were invited during our 2 week stay. We highly recommend Le Manzinaie and hope to go back again.
Dear Manola, Thank you so much for recommending Le Manzinaie to us. During our search for accommodations, Manola, you suggested more than once that we really shouldn’t miss staying there. Seemed like it was a special place. So we booked a week, and then a second week. Now we know why you kept encouraging us to stay there. It is a very special place. Our 2 weeks in May at Le Manzinaie were the highlight of our Tuscany vacation. Marzia, Fiore and Alicia are charming hosts. They are a genuinely warm, friendly family. We quickly became true friends. At the end of our stay our leave-taking was like a family affair. Their living on the premises was a huge advantage in many other ways as well. Alicia helped us with our emails, using their internet connection. Marzia organized the phone in our villa for calls to Florence and other Italian centers, Fiore and Alicia drew maps to some of the tricky destinations, Fiore set up the very different Italian-style BBQ for us, they helped with our laundry, and so on. And how often has an innkeeper (in this case Marzia and Alicia) delivered a freshly-baked coffee cake for breakfast the first morning? Our accommodations were in Le Viole, a small villa, independent of the main house. Marzia and Alicia acquainted us with the workings of the appliances, heating, wall safe, and answered our questions. There was a basket of fresh fruit and bread, crackers, condiments and fresh ham, eggs and milk in the fridge, and a bottle of wine. Also fresh terry robes in the bedrooms. The 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, both ensuite, make Le Viole ideal for 2 couples or a family of 4. The entire villa is immaculate, and attractively furnished and decorated. We had the good luck to attend 3 of our hosts’ famous dinner parties, to which all guests on the premises are invited. These were far-and-away the finest meals we had in Italy, and the most fun.
Hi Manola, Thank you for booking us in for our holidays at LeManzinaie. It was a perfect setting for our perfect holiday. The Grassi family made us so welcome we could not have asked for a better place to stay. We shall recommend it to our family & friends and would love to return ourselves in the future. Thank you.
Dear Manola, I just returned from my first trip to Italy. I stayed at Podere Le Manzinaie for 3 out of my 9 nights. It was by far the best accomodations of the trip. Marzia and her family's hospitality was wonderful. They were friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. They made me feel right at home. I hope to return to Italy one day and will definitely stay here again. I recommend it to anyone who is travelling to Tuscany. Sincerely,
Manola, Sorry we didn't contact you sooner to tell you about our holiday at Le Manzinaie in October. It goes almost without saying that it was everything we hoped for and more. All the testimonials we read on your website before we went made us more than a little nervous. We simply did not believe that it could be that good and we began to worry that the pages of testimonials were just a clever marketing tool. How wrong could you be ! We need not have worried. Le Manzinaie is quite simply superb - the most relaxed and hospitable place to be on holiday that we have ever encountered. Marzia, Fiore and Alice could not do enough for us. From making sure we had candles and matches during the big power failure (thank you, France), to offering endless cups of coffee, we really did feel part of their family for the week. The family's presence never felt intrusive - the atmosphere they created always felt kind, hospitable and caring. And the meals................We survived two of the family 'get togethers' in the company of fellow guests from Canada, USA, Netherlands and the UK and had a great time. Marzia's food was superb, Fiore's hospitality with the wine and later the liqueurs knew no bounds and Alice's translation skills smoothed the way for good conversation and a good giggle. The accommodation itself is of the highest quality, the grounds are peaceful and well kept and the pool is clean, clear and welcoming - even at the beginning of October. The two local restaurants are well worth a visit as is the town of Montepuliciano, just a few kilometres away. Marzia and Alice were only too willing to share their local knowledge with us on arrival and all the local sights they recommended were well worth seeing. We plan to go back in June and again next year, and the year after that, and the next year........! It was a long time in the searching, but now we've found this particular piece of Tuscan heaven we will not let it go easily. Best wishes
Manola, We just returned from spending a week at Le Manzinaie. Marzia, Fiore, and Alicia are wonderful hosts and were very helpful during our stay. The accommodations were very nice and just what we were looking for -- a chance to stay outside of town in a more rural area. We really appreciated the help from Marzia and Fiore on our bicycling adventures also, like: - Marzia finding a cycling guide book for local rides that she loaned to us - Fiore finding a bicycle pump to get us going when we found ours was damaged getting there - Fiore going to the bike shop in Acquavia with us to help us sort out repairs to a damaged wheel (and getting us back on the road riding the same day) Thanks to the help from our hosts we really enjoyed the opportunity to cycle in Tuscany, they were always willing to help us quickly solve any problem that came up. And the dinner Marzia and Fiore prepared for all the guests on Friday night was wonderful. It was a fun evening and made us wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks very much for recommending Le Manzinaie to us, we intend to tell our friends about it so that they stay there when they visit Tuscany.
Dear Manola, When we booked with you for a fortnight at le Manzinaie I was somewhat apprehensive of the extraordinary testimonials - nowhere could be this good! Now we know what everyone is talking about! Tuscany itself is stunning - is there anywhere more beautiful on earth? Le Manzinae was the icing on the cake, it lived up to everything you, and the testimonials, said about it. We can confirm that everything that has been written about le manzinaie, Marzia, Fiore, Alicia, Peggy & Rufus is true!! Marzia, Fiore and Alicia added joy to a very special holiday, and like so many others we now have some wonderful friends in Tuscany. Thank you for enabling this to happen, And very special thanks to Marzia, Fiore & Alicia.
Hi Manola, Just a quick note to you and all at InTuscany to say thank you for recommending the fabulous Le Manzinaie. I want everyone to know how fantastic our holiday was and all thanks to Marzia, Fiore and Alicia. We have never stayed in such a beautiful place with such loving attention to detail. From the moment we arrived we could not believe how fortunate we were to have found such a gorgeous place to stay for our first time in Italy. We were pampered and looked after every day and nothing was ever too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with the family and felt part of the Tuscan way of life. Anyone who has the privilege of staying at Le Manzinaie will be touched forever by it's beauty, warmth and friendliness. We will definitely be returning to Tuscany soon and look forward to making Le Manzinaie our home from home again!! Thank you for all your help and support and we will be in touch soon. Love
Hi Manola, I've just completed your feedback form but also wanted to send a separate note to thank you for suggesting Le Manzinaie to us. We've just come back from a fantastic week there and it was everything you said it would be - and more. The holiday was really made by Marzia, Fiore and Alicia who were fabulous hosts and treated us more like friends staying with them than customers. Everything was perfect - a beautifully decorated apartment, wonderful pool and gardens and some fantastic food prepared by the family. They always went completely out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed - from teaching us how to make Italian coffee to giving us a constant supply of tomatoes and zucchinis from their gardens! We will definitely be coming back! Grazie mille.
Dear Manola, My wife Else and I would like to thank you very much for your good advice when we were looking for a place to stay in Tuscany this summer. You proposed Podere le Manzinaie for its good quality and its kind people, and so right you were. During our holidays I got serious problems with my back and we had to call a doctor. Marzia and her family were fantastic, they organized a doctor, helped with shopping and buying pills, and when I finally got back on my feet again, they all came to the apartement with 5 glasses and a bottle of white wine to celebrate that I was back "among the living" again. Very helpful, very kind and caring, and always with a smile - and thus they are the good memory we take back from a holiday troubled by my miserable back. We would definitely like to go back to Podere le Manzinaie at our next visit to Tuscany - it is most certainly a recommendable place. I enclose a couple of photos. You are free to use them if you like. Best wishes.
Dear Manola, I have completed your review form, although I'm sure there's nothing you need to know about this wonderful place! Pauline and I had a marvellous time despite the extreme heat. The day we went to Florence it must have been 38 degrees or 100 Fahrenheit!. Consequently, we did not do justice to Florence this time, being keen to get back to the pool so carefully tended each morning by Fiore and Alice who cleaned the sunbed chairs every morning. It turned out to be the very special holiday I had hoped for for Pauline, who coped with the heat very well and was in fairly good health all week long. You don't need me to tell you about Marzia, Fiore and Alice, because you've heard it all before! Suffice to say that they were brilliant hosts. We had a wonderful meal with other guests, mostly cooked on the BBQ by Fiore - don't underestimate him! He's a great host in his own right, very generous with his wine and grappa and, if we were by the pool for any length of time it was usually he who would appear with a cold drink or even coffee. We also had a great evening after we returned from Florence very hot and bothered. The family were waiting with cool white wine and then we, American friends Hue and Fran and the family all had take away pizzas which Marzia collected and we drank more wine, grappa and coffee! Le M is a great place to stay, more than anything because of the family. It is they who have wrought the miracle through their personality and hard work - Marzia's wonderful artwork, Fiore's great skill outdoors, Alice's lovely helpfulness. And Peggy and Rufus are delightful too - they never barked once! I have already praised your website and will recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Tuscany. I thank you for your help and am very sorry we did not meet. I fully intend to return one day and have now noted that the office is in Castelmuzio, not that far from Le M. Don't be surprised if I turn up at the office next time! You obviously have a very good relationship with Marcia. She spoke very kindly of you both, just as you speak, quite rightly, very kindly of her. Our daughter Jo will be honeymooning at Le Macchie from 13 July. It looked a good choice when we viewed it from a distance from the main road and I am sure that Mr and Mrs Fenner will have a great time! It is our intention to get Jo to call in on Marzia with a piece of wedding cake and maybe some photos. Many thanks once again.
At the rate they are going, the Grassis of Le Manzinaie are going to be one of the largest families in Tuscany. Every guest, it seems, becomes a branch on the family tree. From the time Marzia first greeted us at the door, we felt like part of that family. Marzia's warmth was that of a beloved relative rather than an innkeeper. Fiori was as quick with a smile as with a glass of grappa. Daughter Alicia was a delight, as were the tail-wagging tandem of Rufus and mother Peggy. Although we lacked for nothing, we felt ... not catered to, but embraced. Other guests told us the same: they felt like they had been welcomed into the Grassi family, promising to keep in touch, to send pictures, to return at the next opportunity. The facilities are thoughtful, tasteful and thorough, as other guests have testified. Marzia's artistic skills permeate every room of the beautifully restored main villa and outbuilding and overflow into her textile art. The grounds and pool are impeccably inviting. But what we took away from Le Manzinaie in the spring of 2003 was, most of all, deep appreciation for having shared a week of our life with three people so charming and yet so genuine. It is said that when people make a true connection, they become a part of each other. If that is so, our family just got a little bigger too.
We've just returned from a wonderful week in Tuscany, staying at Le Manzinaie. Marzia, Fiore, and Alice were wonderful hosts, and we felt like we were saying goodbye to family when we had to leave. We decided on Le Manzinaie based on the sheer number of glowing testimonials from other guests (this seems to be a pattern). Like Paul and Neimah, with whom we shared the incredible four-hour dinner, our expectations were surpassed by our experiences at Le Manzinaie! First, the accommodations... The grounds were immaculately maintained, and thoughtful touches like a covered garden patio, complimentary bathrobes, local wine, and food for the first morning's breakfast put smiles on our faces right away, even though we were weary from our long day of travel! The apartments and the "little house" next to it are lovingly restored, with Marzia's beautiful artwork on virtually every wall! The house we stayed in (Le Viole) was a perfect balance between modern convenience and rustic charm, and it was the perfect size for 4 people. Now, the people... When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Marzia and the two little dogs, Rufus and Peggy. Once we had unpacked, we were invited to have wine in the garden with the other guests, who we immediately befriended. After only an hour of chatting with the hosts and other guests, we already had great daytrips planned for the entire week! In fact, we were having such a good time on those trips that we forgot about grocery shopping, and Marzia even gave us some olive oil and homemade jam when we needed it! We are already dreaming of returning to Tuscany, and when we do, we will definitely return to Le Manzinaie! Rebecca, finding your web site was the best thing that could have happened for our trip to Italy! It can be a little scary planning a vacation based on information from the web, but everything to do with InTuscany.net was honest and reliable! We have told many friends about it.
Dear Manola, My wife and I returned late Tuesday evening from a spectacular week in Tuscany. Staying at Le Manzinaie with Marzia, Fiore and Alice was at the heart of our enjoyment and I use the word "heart" in several senses. First and most importantly, they welcomed us into their home and their hearts. They made us feel part of their wonderful family from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Their warmth, generosity and helpfulness were unparalleled. In another sense, too, Le Manzinaie was at the heart of our enjoyment of Tuscany. It is beautifully and artistically restored, impeccably maintained and centrally located to most of Tuscany's major sites. We decided to stay at Le Manzinaie, from among the thousands of appealing sounding Tuscany accommodations, because of the effectiveness of your website and especially the testimonials from guests that you provide. After I printed out and read the 12 pages worth, I was sold. I have to admit, though, a few days before our departure for Tuscany, my wife and I began to discuss whether the extravagance of many of the testimonials might raise our expectations to the point where nothing could measure up. How wrong we were to be concerned! Le Manzinaie, and Marzia, Fiore and Alice, actually surpassed our lofty expectations. The complimentary four-hour dinner they shared with their guests, during which we learned that good food, good wine and good nature can overcome what might have been language barriers, was only one of many high points. Samantha, you are absolutely right about how good a cook Marzia is, but Fiore and Alice are no slouches either. The day-long cooking class and gourmet dinner, which you arranged for us with them, was also wonderful. The personalized itineraries Marzia prepared with Alice's help were the icing on the cake, so to speak. We will surely return to Le Manzinaie soon, perhaps even as early as this October. Thank you so much for making this great travel experience possible and for being so responsive and helpful throughout. Regards.
Having returned from nearly a month touring Italy, for Milan-Lake Como to Capri, our fondest memories are the 10 days we spent at le Manzinaie. Our hosts, Marzia, Fiore and Alice were so kind and accommodating-our every wish was fulfilled. The accommodations were superb and absolutely 4-star! A 3 room apartment beautifully decorated by Marzia, a fully equipped kitchen (with essential condiments, teas and coffee supplied); canopied four-poster bed and full bath with jacuzzi tub for relaxing after a day exploring the Tuscan villages. The special hospitality they offered, from suggestions of local places to visit to help with train and travel schedules and use of internet for email were graciously offered and gratefully accepted. The opportunity to share with the family and other guests the wonderful Tuscan meals was a special unexpected treat. Their sharing in those special times made us feel very much like family. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit le Manzinaie. We definitely want to return!
Dear Manola, I have been meaning to do this for months and was reminded when I logged into your website (trying to cheer myself up!). Please pass this message to Marzia, Fiore and Alicia. We stayed in June last year and we had the most wonderful holiday. Our daughter Lesley and her partner Kenny had just got married and we were all a bit stressed and ready for somewhere just like this! The warm welcome and the efforts made to make us feel at home were much appreciated. Our grandson Ryan was only 18 months old and quite a handful (the heatwave didn't help) but Marzia had unlimited patience (as had Peggy and Rufus). And, Oh Yes Fiore! Molto grazie for the coffee every morning - did you get the building work finished in time? With love and best wishes Andrea, (old) Kenny, Lesley, (young) Kenny, and Ryan from Edinburgh XXXXX. Everything everyone else says in the testimonials is true, I expect Podere le Manzinae to be booked up next time we can afford a holiday! If not, we will most certainly be back. You have hit on exactly the right formula to make sure your guests relax and enjoy their stay, and we wish you all the best for the future. Alicia, dont forget to look us up if your studies bring you to Scotland. Lesley gave birth to a brother for Ryan on 3rd January (two weeks late!) - his name is Thomas (or Tomass!). i'm sure you'll get to see him someday.
Dear Marzia, Fiore and Alicia We just want to say thank you all very much for your warm welcome and hospitality throughout our stay at Le Manzenaie. Kyren misses Peggy and Rufus terribly and we think we must get her a pet dog of her own soon! We've all enjoyed our stay at your lovely place and appreciate your making us feel thoroughly at home. Travelling with two small children is not always easy but Kyren and Yian had the time of their lives just having a good run every morning in your beautiful garden and playing with your dogs! And of course, they enjoyed your company and all the toys you spoiled them with! Grazie! Thanks for dinner too and the lovely wine! We wish you a blessed Christmas in advance and hope to see you again as Kyren and Yian would love to use your pool!!! Best regards
Ciao Manola, We have returned from a two week stay with the Grassis at their Podere. We are the Schmitts and were sharing the anter house with the Clarks. I don't quite know where to start and stop, but it is sufficient to say that we had a magnificent two week stay in October. From entering the front gate and driving up the cypress lined entrance, we were awe struct and more than pleased. The Grassis, Marzia, Fiore and their daughter, Alice are wonderful hosts and hostesses. They made our stay in many, many ways. We felt immersed in the culture and the country from their first greeting until the last day when we were so disappointed we had to drive out the walkway for the last time. Everything was more than we could have expected. The dinners we enjoyed with the family and other guests are the perfect touch to make everyone comfortable and feel the warmth of a lovely country and the area of Tuscany. Of course, the food and wine were delicious and more than abundant. We so enjoyed seeing and hearing about all of Marzia's artictic talents and personal touches she has added to the properties. Our place was very cozy and warm with all of her personal touches and wall decorations. Having a nicely stocked kitchen made the few meals we prepared easy (with the exception of a toaster and maybe that is only an "American thing" , a convenience that we need to learn to live without??) You are very fortunate to have such a perfect client and rental to offer to people who really want to enjoy Tuscany to its fullest. Several of the other guests we met also found Podere Le Manzinaie on the internet through you--everyone's good fortune!!! We will stay in contact with the Grassis and hope to return some day in the not too distant future. Until then, we wish many more guests the good fortune to enjoy the Podere experience with the Grassis with hopes their stay is as wonderful. Thank you for connecting us with "The Best" Tuscany has to offer. Our memories are in our pictures, but more so in our minds, as pictures just can't do the countryside justice no matter how many we took. Arreverdici
Dear Manola, I thought I must write to let you know that we had a wonderful week spent at the Le Podere Mamzomaoe with Marcie, Fiore and Alicia. We received a wonderful welcome and they looked after us all through the week with information on places to visit and especially - how to get there, and a map. The accommodation was really first class. It was our first trip to Tuscany and we all hope to return another year. Thank you all for such a wonderful holiday and we will certainly recommend it to our friends. Regards.
Manola, I've been meaning to write since we returned from Italy 3 weeks ago. Our stay at Le Manzinaie was wonderful. Marzia was warm and gracious and made our stay very nice. Her daughter Alicia was a poised and articulate young lady and prepared a booklet for us of neighboring sites. Thank you for recommending it. It was the highlight of our trip.
Hi Manola, I just wanted to thank you for setting us up at Podere Manziniae. Cindy and I were there for a little over a week (Sept 4-13) and wished we could have stayed longer. It was wonderful. Marzia and family were warm, thoughtful and fun. The apartment was perfect - warm, comfortable and the furnishings and fixtures were very high quality. Marzia did a wonderful job of decorating. Podere Manzinaie was the perfect base for beautiful drives throughout the Tuscan countryside, relaxing afternoons by the pool, and fabulous dinners in the evenings. Thank you. Sincerely,
Manola, What can I say..our holiday at Le Manzinaie was the best ever and we have never been so sad to leave anywhere before...I even cried!!! We were the very first people to stay in Marzia's new property conversion, Le Viole and feel really privelidged to have done so. It has been lovingly restored by marzia and Fiore and was beautiful. The hand painted furniture was a joy and the little touches such as the bathrobes and toileteries were unexpected. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need and we enjoyed cooking and eating alfresco there so much we only sampled the local restaurants (all excellent) a couple of times in our 2 week stay. Marzia and Fiore, and of cause Alicia were the best hoasts ever and the 2 wonderful meals the family treated us to along with the other guests were really fun.. The family go out of their way to make your stay perfect . We have 3 children and they had such a good time.... Le Manzinaie is really child friendly. My eldest Tom wanted to stay and live with Marzia!!! If your customers want a wonderful holiday, in beautiful countryside with fantastic places to visit and the company of the warmest, most generous family, send them to Le Manzinaie. Ps. Manola, could you please tell Marzia that I am waiting for my photographs to be developed and then I will email her and send her some copies.
Dear Manola, Our recent stay at Le Manzinaie was really fabulous ... we were thrilled with the friendliness and warmth of Marzia, Fiore and Alicia. They were splendid hosts, not only because of the great cooking, the impromptu drinks by the pool, the ready smiles and eagerness to communicate with us despite our non-exitent Italian, but also because they allowed us to feel completely 'at home' and relaxed at Le Manzinaie. It was a perfect balance between friendly engagement and allowing us the freedom to 'do our own thing'. We loved it! Mary-Ann is 14 weeks pregnant and Marzia wants us to keep her in touch with progress ... Le Manzinaie is very child and baby friendly and I am sure we will be back their with our new addition to the family as soon as we can arrange it. thanks so much for your help in arranging this holiday.
Dear Marzia and Fiore, We just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for the 3 weeks we spent at Podere le Manzinaie. They were certainly the finest part of our trip to Italy. We will definately be recommending you to any of our friends who wish to travel in Tuscany. A visitor could not do any better than your apartments, which are so comfortable for both couples or families and are also so well located for exploring the region. In fact, it was one of the very best places we’ve ever stayed in all of our travels anywhere. We appreciated all the details you put into preparing for our visit. The rooms were very big and clean and the large bathroom with its quality fixtures, and shower, bath, AND jacuzzi was really great. The bed was super comfortable and the quiet surroundings gave us our best sleep in a long time. And the kitchen was well organized with all the necessary amenities. We especially liked the fact that there were a few supplies waiting for us in the refrigerator and that we didn’t need to buy things like tea or salt and pepper. There were even well sharpened knives! Le Manzinaie was so ideal for us in so many ways. Though travelling with a 1-year old means that we don’t often eat in restaurants, we always found it very pleasant to begin our day with coffee outside or to return to our apartment in the evening, use the kitchen, and take our dinner in the garden. And the garden was so beautiful, relaxing, and well planned that we fully enjoyed spending an entire day or two reading, playing, and sunning next to the pool. We especially liked how you created so many different spaces outside where we could either enjoy some privacy or comfortably visit with the other guests. Your location near Montepulciano really worked out well for us, too. It was so easy for us to take many interesting and scenic day trips to places as near as Cortona or as far as Urbino and Viareggio. We have already decided to visit Rome the next time we come to stay with you, as one of your other guests explained that his family took the train from nearby Chiusi and reached the city center in just over an hour’s time! All of this made Le Manzinaie a fantastic experience and great value for us, but we are doubly thankful for all the extra service you graciously provided. We always found your advice and directions to be accurate; it was a relief to be able to have our daughter’s laundry done, especially at such a reasonable rate; and the telephone/internet connections were a real convenience. We have also really been touched by the warm hospitality you showed us from the moment we arrived. Thank you so much for all of the great tea and cappucino, the several absolutely delicious and extravagant meals you served, and the many fun conversations we shared with you and the other guests. Finally, thanks so much to both of you for always being kind enough to stop your work and spend time with Eva, talk to her, take a walk with her, show her the goldfish, let her pet the dogs, or yet once again sort rocks with her in the gravel driveway. We all three of us are looking forward to our next visit. Wishing you all the best,
Dear Manola, Just wanted to let you know that our five-day stay in our apartment at the Podere Le Manzanaie farmhouse was by far the best part of our three-week tour of Italy. When we arrived at the farmhouse, which was surprisingly easy to find, our very friendly hosts led us to our apartment and gave us a thorough tour of what was where, which we really appreciated. To our surprise, we found that the apartment actually exceeded expectations: its interior was not cramped but spacious; it was exceptionally clean, attractively furnished and painted, and included all the right accessories and amenities (like a very well equipped kitchen!). In addition, we really appreciated the small touches, like the bottle of wine, the bathrobes and the CNN (via cable tele). In the daytime, we took trips through the gorgeous countryside to sightsee in the nearby gothic towns like San Gimignano, Montepulciano, and Sienna. When pulling out of the driveway, we would invariably see Fiore who would drop everything and come over to offer advice, letting us know which roads to take and which wines to sample. But what made our visit truly special were our hosts; Marcia, Fiore and their daughter, Alicia, took us in like family. On three of our five evenings, they treated us to scrumptious, three-hour long (and on one occasion four hours) dinners, which far exceeded in quality and tastiness any of the meals we got in the restaurants of Rome and Venice. At these home-cooked dinners, we ate at a very beautifully laid table with all the other guests of the house, and experienced meals that consisted of countless courses and a delicious variety of after-dinner liqueurs, like limoncello, grappa and, our favorite, vino santo. Throughout the meals, which were filled with endless chatter and good cheer, we frequently raised our glasses, offering toasts to our exceptional hosts and to their exceptional cooking and then a couple more toasts to ourselves for having had the damn good fortune to be there to experience it. It was truly magnificent. On our last day, we lounged by the pool in the sun and drank sweet peach tea, which Fiore quietly provided, while dreaming of our next visit to Le Podere Manzanaie. And lastly, we want to thank you so much Manola for introducing us to Le Manzanaie! We will be recommending them to all our friends and family. Take care,
Manola, I just wanted to let you know that our trip to Italy worked out very well, and certainly the high point of the trip was our stay at Le Manzinaie. We had some initial problems finding it, because we had innocently assumed we could just show up at the town of Montepulciano and it would be obvious. We had forgotten to go to the website to get directions. But the people at the Tourist Information in Montepulciano did know where it was, and gave us good directions to get there. We were very impressed with the very clean, new, and comfortable facilities. Everything was well organized and worked properly. We also found the location excellent for day trips: we went to Chiusi, Chianciano, Montepulciano (of course), Siena, San Gimignano, and the abbeys at Monte Oliveto and San Antimo. We also did a day trip south to the coast and Argentario. Most of all, however, we were pleased with the warm hospitality shown to us by Marzia, Fiore, and Alicia. All three were friendly, helpful, and simply excellent hosts. We had dinner with them and the other guests on two nights, and found them not only good company, but also very helpful and informative. So thank you for recommending Le Manzinaie to us. We will certainly recommend it to our friends, and we hope you will continue to steer your clients that way. Arrivederci!
Dear Manola, sorry i have taken so long to tell you of our stay at le manzinaie. in fact marzia just emailed me to remind me! well, what can i say. it was truly wonderful. from the first moment everything was exactly what we could wish for. we arrived earlier than we should have done. not in terms of days but hours but alice and marzia were so kind and friendly and willing. the appartment was fantastic, really managing to have all the things a good hotel would have but with a personal, 'homey' kind of feel to it. the grounds and pool were beautiful and,as i said to fiore, they had been so well planned that when we go back(!!) in acouple of years the whole place will look spectacular. i am going to stop rambling through the whole week now! we had two meals as a large group. not that we had to be persuaded, and it was great to be able (or at least to try) talking with marzia and alice about food - i managed to get alice's fantastic recipe for tiramisu. i suppose its always the little things that make a difference. having coffee made for you in the afternoon by the pool. fiore driving us to montepulciano on our last evening so i could drink properly - and then picking us up afterwards. actually that is a big thing. as i said to marzia when i emailed our thanks on our return i find it very difficult to express how much we loved being there. all i can say is that usually after about 10 days away from home i start to get fidgety and miss my home comforts but at le manzinaie i could have stayed and stayed. we will DEFINITELY return, as much to see the family as to be in the place itself. but thats the great thing about the place. you cant seperate them from it. just ask me if you need anything specific about our stay or anything, otherwise thank you also for your great website which got us there in the first place. i hope things are going to be ok for you following sept 11. best wishes
Dear Manola, I am using an old e-mail just as a convenience to send you a note. My husband, Art, and I returned last week from our visit to Italy where we spent 2 weeks at Le Manzinaie. We were so delighted with our stay there that we wanted to write and thank you for representing them and getting the word out about their beautiful estate. If you wish to share this letter as a testimony to others please feel free to do so. Our hosts, Marzia, Fiore and their daughter Alice could not have been more sincerely gracious and friendly. They were always available to help us out with directions, food supplies, car repair advice, delicious meals and just generally sweet, generous good feelings. I wish I knew more people like they are here in New York. We found our apartment comfortable and roomy. I loved standing by the sink in the morning making myself an espresso while peering through a flower filled window at the Tuscany landscape.Marizia has decorated and painted the rooms of each apartment withcharming stencils and murals so each one is unique and lovely. We loved having that clean, spacious pool to swim in most mornings and then afternoons when things started to heat up. What a pleasure to sit by a pool and look out at green, green farmland and Montepulciano off on a nearby hilltop. Often we would pour ourselves a glass of delicious Montepulciano Nobile in the evening and sit by the large picnic table or the little gazebo area for a peaceful hour, surrounded by flowers, before dinner. And speaking of dinner, our hosts recommendations were always on target, not to speak of the fabulous meals Marizia prepared herself and so graciously served to us, several times. I cannot, in all honesty, recommend highly enough this beautiful, peaceful, enchanted villa in Tuscany; Le Manzinaie. Thank you again for making the arrangements. Yours truly
Manola: Alas, we have returned from our lovely Tuscan vacation. We ate at incredible restaurants, one being a four star restaurants, we stayed at an exclusive villa perched high above Greve and we met some wonderful Italians along the way. However, the exquisite food, the lovely accomodations and the warmth that we received from Marzia, Fiore and Alicia at Le Manzanaie surpassed all of the above. Our best meal was not at a restaurant...it was the feast prepared by Marzia at Le Manzanaie and served to us and the other lucky guests al fresco. The most beautiful room was not at the four star villa in Greve, it was at Le Manzanaie. And, of all the people we met during our stay in Italy, none were as adorable, warm, kind, talented (artist and gourmet cook) and energetic as Marzia, her adorable husband, Fiore and her charming and pretty daughter, Alicia. We will remember our stay at Podere Le Manzanaie and Marzia, Fiore and Alicia, for a very long time with fond memories of a perfect Tuscan holiday. With kind regards,
Dear Manola, I wanted to write to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Podere Manzinaie in June. Your colleague at In Tuscany (unfortunately I forget her name) was most helpful when I called from Marina di Bibbona to inquire about last minute availability. We had booked another accommodation in Tuscany, but unfortunately it looked much better on the Internet, so I was most relieved when I learned that Marzia had space at her beautiful estate. We arrived on Friday, June 8 and stayed until the following Thursday. While there we visited Cortona, Assisi, Montepulciano and Pienza. I guess we could have seen more Tuscan towns, but we wanted to save some time for relaxing by the pool or in the beautiful garden, shopping for local food specialities at the food store down the road, and visiting with Marzia, Fiore and Alicia. Their hospitality was heartwarming. While the language barrier sometimes made conversations challenging, we always got by with our phrasebooks, diagrams and hand signals. Marzia was a fountain of information when it came to interesting places to visit. Her information package for suggested itineraries is a great idea. And they've done a marvellous job at restoring and decorating the old barn - every detail was considered. Dinner on Saturday evening with the other family that was staying there at the time, was one of the highlights of my vacation. Fiore and Marzia served local specialities, wine and other local liquors - it was all very delicious, and the comraderie was great! While driving in Italy was sometimes frustrating - missing exits, getting lost, parking, expensive gas and tolls - it was nice to have the freedom and flexibility a car provides. However, next time in Tuscany (I pray there's a next time), I think I'd like to try to get around by train and bus. I think it would be possible at Manzinaie since it's so close to a train station. In fact one service Marzia might consider offering is transportation to and from the Montepulciano Stazione. You have my dream job Manola: arranging holidays to one of the most beautiful parts of the world, and living there at the same time! The people of Italy are blessed with kindness and humour and a zest for life, and we encountered these characteristics every day of our trip. Marzia told me while I was there that your son had had an accident. I hope he has fully recovered and is enjoying the summer in Tuscany! Would you mind passing on the following note to Marzia. I don't have time to struggle with Italian, so I'm hoping you can give her a brief summary. Thanks again for making my stay there possible, and I'll be checking out your website for future trips to Italy!
Dear Marzia, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write. I've just finished a note to Manola telling her how much we enjoyed our stay at Manzinaie. You wanted me to tell you about the rest of our trip, after we left you, so here is a very brief version. After dropping the car off at Rome airport we took the taxi to the place we were staying in the Trastevere district. It was a guesthouse operated by an Armenian convent, and was very lovely and easy to get to the major sights. We stayed for 4 nights and saw only a few of the sights we wanted to visit: St. Peter's, Vatican Museum, Colloseum, Roman Forum, Capital Hill, Spanish Steps, Trevedi Fountain. We shopped a little, ate at many Trattorias, and enjoyed the hospitality of the nuns at the guesthouse. We then took the train to Paris, and immediately on to a little town in the Loire Valley where my mother's cousin lives. We stayed 4 days, had a lovely visit and then travelled on to Frankfurt, Germany where we spent our last 2 days. It was a wonderful holiday, but there is no question in my mind that the highlight was my stay in Tuscany. I wish it could have been longer, but knowing there is so much more still to see will tempt me to return some day. I want to thank you again for the heartwarming hospitality of your family. I enjoyed our visits, the wonderful food you served, and especially the beautiful apartment. You have made a beautiful and comfortable place to welcome guests, and I hope I can return someday (speaking Italian!). I hope Alicia did well with her language exams and that you all enjoy the beautiful Tuscan summer. I will write again soon, maybe in Italian! Grazie per tutto!
Dear Manola, We have been back in UK a week already! We wanted to tell you what a great time we had at Le Manzinaie. A week would never have been long enough. If you want anyone to recommend the place, please, please tell them to E mail us or phone. We will definitely be returning to Marzia &Fiore!! Marzia is the kindest person we have met in a long time and quite frankly , we were showered with hospitality & kindness!! It's left us with such an impression of Italian people, not just Marzia & her family, but others we met on that holiday. They did a spectacular meal for us and for the other American couple staying there...but would not take any money from us. In our part of the world these things do not happen any more.... you pay for everything, believe me!! What we will do, is send them something from England to say thank you. They are a truly delightful family and on leaving it was like saying good bye to family... and we had only known them a week!! Le Manzinaie is lovely and the rooms wonderful! We are already E mailing each other in broken English and non existent Italian!! Remember if you want recommendations... try us. Best wishes,
Manola, Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time. Marcia and her family were really great with the children. We enjoyed it a lot. And yes, you were right, she hardly ever stops. Let me tell you that it does not make any difference whether you speak Italian or not.... Anyway, we had a great time. Thanks again for your help.
Podere Fiore was just like a dream comes true! the place was amazing - so beautiful, nice, clean, pampered - it was a pleasure to be there and Ms. Marzia and her family were great !!!! there are not enough words to describe how warmth and friendly they were and although we do not speak italian and they hardly speak english the communication was great!!! They really made us feel welcome in Italy and it was nice. We had a wonderful trip, we saw a lot of Tuscany, Faruja and the area of Montepulciano, Siena. Florence... We will be back to Italy and hopefully to Podere Fiore.
Hi Manola: I was going through some old e-mails and found this one and it reminded me that I never really thanked you for all your help in finding us a place to stay in Tuscany. Podere Fiore was excellent and Marzia and her family were great. We had the perfect honeymoon! We have told a few of our friends about your web-site, so hopefully you will get some more business from Canada. Thanks again for all your help!
A must memorable holiday. We are overwhelmed by your hospitality. We leave with great memories of the family, the house and Tuscany. Kindest regards.
Marzia, Fiore, Alicia (Peggy and Rufus too) Thank you for a wonderful week at beautiful Le manzinaie. We will remember it always.
What can I say!! Such a wonderful holiday, which was made so special by our wonderful hosts, Marzia, Fiore, Alicia. Thank you all so much for your kindness and hospitality. Hopefully we will see you again sometime.
It's hard to believe our holiday is coming to a close...The past three days at Le Manzinaie have been wonderful. The hospitality, beautiful surroundings and charming apartments are greatly appreciated and will be remembered. Marzia and everyone at le manzinaie, grazie mille!
What luck we had in falling upon "Podere Fiore"! The most beautiful apartments in this peaceful picturesque setting added unexpected pleasure to our travel in beautiful Tuscany. But best of all was meeting you Marzia, fiore and Alice, your generous hospitality warmth and charm were simply a most pleasurable bonus!! Thank you for making our vacation even more memorable. Grazie mille.
To Marzia, Alicia and Fiore Thank you for a great time. All was 100%! The apartments are beautiful as much as the view. But most of all thank you for the kindness and helping. You showed us the best side of the Italian people warm, understanding and kind. All were "Mashehu - mashehu" as we say in hebreu, which means more than we expected. Wish to see you again and to visit your beautiful place!
Thank you so much for a wonderful week! This is our first time in Italy and from now on, we will always think of italy + the italians with such affection! We think of such hospitality, warmth and kindness from marzia and her family. We think of wonderful weather, beautiful villages and towns, glorious views and countryside. All the things which we value the most in life we have found here! Most of all, this lovely Podere and the love and care which has gone into making this a special place. We wish Marzia and her family lots of happiness and a wonderful future with their dreams and ventures. Good luck with learning French and English Alice. With our very best wishes and a big thank you for your kindness to us.
Podere Manzinaie è magnifico! Voi siete molto generosi. We had such a wonderful time in Tuscany sharing your beautiful home. We will tell all our friends in America about your wonderful hospitality. Tuscany is a magical place and we hope to be back on spring. All the best to you! Mille grazie.
Dear Manola, I wanted to write about our extraordinary visit to Le Manzinaie. We are back home now, enjoying RM .... repetive memories of our new Italian "home away from home". Marzia and Fiore were marvelous and gracious hosts. They and their daughter Alice, welcomed us warmly on our first night, with a delicious Tuscan dinner. The warmth and hospitality reminded us of French Canada, from where we originally hail. Our apartment was very comfortable, very Tuscan, and boasted rich decorative wall paintings done by hand by Marzia herself. At the end of our week, when it came time to go, it was a difficult departure. We left behind the stunning beauty of Tuscany, and some of the dearest friends we have had the privilege of coming across in our lives. We miss them, and we miss Tuscany. But we'll promise to return very soon.
We had a wonderful time at the farm. The owner met with us and personally showed us the beautiful rooms and property. The kids had a ball of a time. The pool, table tennis was a big plus. The location of the property could not be better. It overlooks the vineyards at the top of the hill and had a fantastic view. We would sit till late every day in the open overlooking the greenery around and the rolling hills getting drunk on the various Tuscan wines available in plenty and at a very reasonable price. The rooms, bathrooms, kitchen etc was 5* quality. We wished we had spent a few days more.! Will definitely visit again in the future. Only advice is that you must carry insect/mosquito repellent with you. Thanks again!
Just to let you know we had a very enjoyable stay at Podere Torricella. The gentleman who helped us there (father of Christiano who runs it) was very polite and helpful, a true gentleman. It was well signposted and easy to find by car with the directions given. Accommodation was clean and tidy and pretty much as we had expected. We were happy with the location and with the help of owners were able to catch bus to Florence for the day with ease. They gave plenty of directions as to where to shop for food. The restaurant attached to the the farm and accommodation was very good, had a lovely ambiance and very good food. We had some trouble locating accommodation that suited our needs for this particular time of year, which was one reason that we chose this property. We required two double bedrooms with two bathrooms, only four nights and of course in November as well. Podere Torricella gave us all this, the only hesitation being that the second bathroom was very small, Other than this, we were very pleased with our choice. Thank you for your help in booking this property, we had a faultless holiday in Italy (and Spain) with perfect weather!!
Dear Manola, We safely made it back to Seattle, Washington late last night after an hour delayed flight in Philadelphia connecting to our Seattle flight. It was definitely a long journey home but through it all, we felt it was all worth it. Podere Torricella is definitely the place to be if ever we're in Tuscany again. We absolutely enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, the greens around the villa and the spectacular view of the mountains and fields we saw from the pool and the unit we were in. You were so helpful in every possible way and we are truly grateful for that. I have one suggestion though, perhaps there will be a much better mattress in the master bedroom (double bed) next time. We could really feel the spring on the one we had in our unit and it made sleeping a little tougher at times. Well, I hope to see you again in the future and I will definitely recommend your place to friends and families who'll travel to Tuscany. Ciao!
I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had in Tuscany at Torricella. The apartment was spacious, clean and reasonably well equipped. We had some delightful neighbours and the entire atmosphere was warm and inviting. And the view! Gorgeous. The grounds were kept so tidy! They were just opening up the pool for the season so the water was a little cold for us but we did enjoy sitting in the sun watching the thick skinned children (our upstairs neighbours) play blissfully in the water. We had dinner in the restaurant on our last night and it was probably the best we had during our entire trip. Our host's and the pleasant young woman who worked in the office were all wonderful. Thanks so much for your help and for making the first week of our first visit to Italy so enjoyable. I know we'll return!
Yes we did have a great trip! We had a wonderful stay at Torricella and we drove over 1000 kms within Tuscany during the week. Tuscany is heaven on earth. The apartment was perfect, and the little restaurant at Torricella serves excellent food (as most places in Italy). Our children also enjoyed the stay very much. They/we used the table tennis facilities every day, and they appreciated the Italian food and ice-cream very much. I got your website from an Italian colleague, and I will most certainly share it with anybody who is considering going to Italy. Thank you and Best regards, Helena with family!
For Torricella: We really enjoyed Torricella and found the owners to be very hospitable. We definitely recommend it and have told our friends how happy we were with our choice of lodging. Sincerely.
We had an excellent stay, directions were fine and the place exceeded our expectations. Would have liked an ironing board and coffee mugs to supplement the cups so bought some and left them for the next visitors. Hope to be back next year!
We stayed for four weeks in apartment 1 at Borgo dei 7 Tigli. It was wonderful. We have been to Italy three times and this was an area that we wanted live and experience. Over the four weeks we shopped at the local markets, learned allot about wine grown around this area and feasted on the seasonal vegetables. The locals began to recognize us when we came into their shop and the open food markets became our main stay for food gathering. We visited all the surrounding small towns around this area and it is truly a wonderful introduction to rural Italian life. A car is a must. Cannot find this place without one and you cannot get anywhere without a car. The drivers there are crazy but we did not experience or see one accident. It is not for the faint of heart. Part of the charm of Italy. Our apartment had a full kitchen. The other units do not. Large enough to fit four people comfortably but we had only two during our stay. Very nicely decorated inside with an ensuite bathroom in one bedroom and a second bathroom down the hall. It also had a washing machine and dishwasher. Had to dry clothes on a rack outside which was not a problem. Beautiful brick and stone work interior. Could have stayed longer.
Dear Manola, Thank you for your message. I returned last monday from Italy so after a fabulous week in "Villa I Girasoli" we all are home again. As you know, staying there with my familiy of children and grandchildren was my "sogno Toscano" and we enjoyed our week in the villa very much. We had no opportunity to meet Jacopo because, after his wedding, he and his bride were away for their "luna di miele" But we were given a great welcome by his parents who showed us the house and surroundings. We very much appreciated the big cake on the table on our arrival and the plate tiramisu on the last evening which was a welcome "dolce" after our last dinner. The villa is a dream to spend ones holidays. Every room decorated with great taste. The beautiful garden wonderful kept, to play in for the children and to sit and relax for us. The great views over the Chiana valley, the pool and surroundings. It all made our days. So too much to tell. We have wonderful pictures and even better memories. Certainly we will contact you when we will come to Tuscany another time and are very grateful for your professional help. "Complimenti!!" Would you please be so kind as to give our best regards to the family Menchichi and thank them again for their great hospitality. Thanks.
We had the pleasure of staying at your beautiful place in apt. 1. The four of us truly enjoyed our stay for 4 nights in Sept. 2011. We also want to thank Vanessa for all of her assistance in making our stay so pleasant and enjoyable. We had such a wonderful vacation and the location, facilities etc., was exceptional. We hope to come back again, as 4 days was not enough, possibly soon in the future. Many thanks
Hi, we really appreciated our stay. It was really perfect. Very nice appartment, comfortable. We had no problems. Nice swimming pool. We will come back :) Thank you as well for your help with the arrangments for the extra person. I would recommend your site to my friens who would like to spend their holidays in Tuscany. Thansk again and we will maybe hear from each other next year :)
Hallo, We had a very nice holiday at Borgo del 7 tigli! Nice people en location.
We had a wonderful stay. Our apartment (No. 6 at Borgo di 7 Tigli) was cheerful, spacious, clean and well equipped. The surrounding property offered rewarding views of vineyards, grazing lands, fields and at least two distant hill towns (Montefollonico and Montepulciano) - I wish we had brought binoculars. Our apartment was in the country 5 km outside of the nearest town, which suited us well -- although we got a bit worn out getting around Montepulciano until we figured out the bus system, found a couple of hilltop parking lots and located the supermarket. This was our first visit to the Tuscan countryside. We found the scenery to be as beautiful as we had imagined, the towns to be fascinating to explore, and the people to be very friendly - I had never been offered a glass of wine at an Internet cafe at closing time before. However, until we got used to it, we were also a little surprised by how completely businesses shut down in the early to mid-afternoon and how the towns seemed to be bereft of local inhabitants during much of the day and early evening on Saturdays and Sundays. I wish that we had been able to stay for more than ten days.
Hello, I had a wonderful time! The accommodations were great, close to many attractions and the beautiful countryside. The bed was very comfortable. It seemed other places I stayed in Italy the beds were hard and uncomfortable but the bed in the apt was very comfortable. I will definitely consider staying there again and will reccommend it to fellow travelers to Italy. Thanks again,
Dear Croci and Lazzari, Our time in tuscany, at the Borgo 7 Tigli aparttament was delicious. All was right: the localitation, the aparttament, the people, the neighbours... You have a precious land and for me and my family there wer an unforgetable hollidays. Thanks very much to Deanna who help me in all of my request, thanks to Alice, the contact person in Borgo 7 Tigli, who was very very kind. We love Tuscany. Thanks a lot!!!!
Thank you very much for our lovely apartment. We had a wonderful stay at Borgo dei Sette. The facilities were wonderful. Thanks again and I hope you’re having a good summer. Regards
Dear Manola e Paolo, after our week in Borgo dei 7 Tigli we are all very positive. The appartment was lovely, very clean, it had every utility you could need and the pool was even better than expected. The service from you agency as well as from the employee for the appartment all run very smooth without hassel. Hence, I have no hesitation to recommend the appartment or your agency in the future. Best regards
Dear Manola, Back in Miami I want to tell you that our holiday was truly amazing and it great part it was because of the beauty and quality of the property where we stayed. The place exceeded our expectations in every way. Our apartment was well appointed, with all the comforts we could expect and the surrounding areas were magnificent! We really made it our home and we hope to come back as soon as we can, and next time, we’ll stay longer. Many thanks for all your help in making this a wonderful holiday for me and my family! We will be very glad to recommend it to all our friends! Best Regards,
Good Afternoon, Yes, we had a lovely holiday. We were very impressed with Tuscany and it's lovely people. The villa was very good, although there was a shortage of coathangers which we mentioned to Natasha and she brought us some more. We will definitely return but probably to explore a different area, perhaps around Lucca and its surounding countryside. We thought it would have been helpful if the villa contained some information on local markets, etc for the area. Of course the food and wine of Tuscany did help to make a perfect holiday. Thank you!
Dear Manola, I would like to thank you for your help in suggesting two lovely places that we greatly enjoyed staying in. It was very helpful and i will be in touch again if we are back in Italy. Best wishes
Dear Croci, good morning! we really enjoyed and had a great time. Cristina an Enzo hosted us very well. We hope visting Tuscany again. Best regards!
Hello Manola, Just wanted to thank you again for all your assistance for our holiday last month. We enjoyed the villa, meeting the owner and the lovely basket of food stuffs that greeted our arrival. Wonderful location and the weather those two weeks were cloud free and warm. You have a truly beautiful country and we hope to return. All the best,
Dear Marino, I can't remember if I ever wrote you back or not after we all returned from Europe in January, but I thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful home with us for such a memorable Christmas!! It was one we will never forget. We look back on our photos with fondness! I hope that I will be able to come back some time in the spring or even better the fall when the grapes are being harvested for wine...what a great treat that would be! My son is getting married in September and I suggested they consider going to Tuscany for their honeymoon and told them how wonderful your house in Chiusi is. I'm not sure where they've decided to go, but if they choose Europe and want to come to Italy, I will certainly contact you. How far ahead do you book your home? Please tell Bebe hello from Susie, Paula, Jocelyn and Justin!! He was a wonderful bright and warm addition to our stay, despite the cloudy and cold days! We loved his laughter and friendly manner. Thanks again!
Dear Marino, We've now returned from Italy to our home here in Tiburon and have had the time to think and reflect about our wonderful visit to Villa Demata. We shall long remember how your villa played such an important role in this 'very special' vacation. The rustic tuscan charm of the villa and the beautiful setting in which it is located shall long remain in our collective memories. To add to the experience, we truly enjoyed dining at the restaurants that you helpfully suggested. Although we did have 'some' difficulty in finding the one near Cetona, it proved to be worth the effort. In closing, we wish you good health and continued rich success with Villa Demata. Thank you so much,
Hi Manola, Sorry I've taken so long to get back to you. We stayed at Villa Guazzotti in La Spezia from 5th - 12 th July and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owners made sure we were comfortable but the trip around the town including all the best places to shop was invaluable. Also, the welcome pack was a lovely surprise as it meant we could make a meal without having to do any shopping at all on our first night. The proximity to the local restaurant was great as some days we were just too lazy to shop and cook. We enjoyed lounging around the pool and caught up on our reading. We spent most of our time on the outdoor terrace which was right by the fridge for top-ups of birra and Prosecco! Thanks for your help in organising our trip and we'll certainly get in touch with you again if we travel to Tuscany again.
Hi Manola, Well what can I say, our stay at Il Casale was out of this world, the best ever!! Gianluca and his family made us feel so welcome and could not do enough to help. The villa is amazing and all our guests were outstanded by the quality and level of service we received. I would go back time and time again and cannot recommend Il Casale highly enough to anyone wishing to spend time there. We will definitely be returning! Thank you so much for finding this wonderful place for us xx Best Regards
Hi Manola, We just returned from Italy and our week visit to Il Portico. We absolutely loved the villa and had a great time. The villa was exactly as you had described. Everything went very well and we had no unpleasant surprises. Loredana was great. She came by every day to work in the garden or to be available for questions, but was always discrete and never in the way. Also Gianmarco came through for us. As you know we had several airport/train transfers and he took care of everything perfectly. Thank you for all that you did to give us a perfect vacation. Congratulations for running such an excellent organization! You did a fine job for us. I will recommend you to our friends and acquaintances without hesitation. I also particularly appreciate your answering all my questions so quickly and professionally over the last few months. I wish you continued success with the business. We will surely contact you again. Sincerely,
We had a wonderful time. We would go back again and again and again. The Villa was just perfect and the surrounding Tuscan country side was really idyllic. I miss it so much already! Ciao!
Dearest Gisela, First, I'd like to congratulate you again for the wonderful restoration work and the ever so comfortable stay we had. almost ever aspect of the stay was perfect. Except for the CD player. The problem isn't faulty disks, but the player, that needs to be fixed or replaced. We managed to play our music via the DVD and TV, so it wasn't a real problem. Other than that, the kitchen, the bathrooms, the rooms, the towels and robes, the pool - everything was just great. We will try to pass on the good word, as promised. Thank you again for the lovely villa and your generous hospitality!
Gisela, We've been back from Italy for 2 months now & the wonderful memories of our stay in your villa are still with us. Thanks for all you did to make our stay so perfect. You really do have a unique and interesting property. We loved Sarteano & the Tuscan countryside and are hoping that one day, we will be able to get back there for another vacation.
Dear Manola, We had a wonderful time at the Villa Il Maggio last month. The Villa far exceeded its description, and we were very comfortable. I would like to write a letter to the owner, Gisela, who was very kind to us, but do not have an address for her. Could you please send me her postal address, or the address of the Villa? Thank you, and many thanks also for making it possible for us to have had this lovely week in Tuscany! Regards,
Hello Manola, I am writing this email to convey our sincere appreciation for the opportunity of staying in the abovementioned property. We have had many trips to Europe and stayed in lots of different villas and we were thoroughly delighted with Villa Il Maggio. We were greeted by Gisela, the owner of the property upon our arrival and we found her to be extremely pleasant and generous, she truly has an eye for detail and the property has everything you could possibly imagine. A lot of consideration has gone into the restoration of this property and the gardens are magnificent. For the first time in all our travels we only dined out once as the villa was so conducive to cooking and the dining room was magnificent, the ambience and beautiful mood lighting made it so enjoyable and we found all the local wine so pleasant to drink. The bathroom with the bath in it was divine and we didn't turn the lights on once the ample candles left around the bath made it most relaxing whilst looking out to the surrounding hills listening to music and sipping on a glass or two of wine. The Jacuzzi area was also magnificent and Paola's home cooked lasagne, salad and delicious apple cake was very welcoming after a long day travelling in the car from France. Bruno, the gardener was very entertaining and supplied us with lovely vegetables from the garden on a daily basis. The children had lots of fun running around the acres of land which surround the property and were playing hide and seek with Bruno and despite the language barriers we all managed to communicate quite effectively. The villa is situated very close to the local village of Sarteano which is a beautiful village and we found travelling to the other local villages most pleasant and not too far away i.e. Montalcino, Montepulciano, Casa de Bagni, Pienza to name a few. We also enjoyed lots of walking around the villa as there are lots of pleasant walking trails right outside the villa. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to enjoy a true Tuscan experience as the photographs of the property do not describe the true attention to detail and the high standards of comfort that this property exudes. My only suggestion is that the property has a name placed directly out the front of the property as we did experience a little difficulty finding the property even though the directions are precise, or perhaps you could say that the property is the one right out the front of the gravel road with the hedge. Having said that we found a local Police Officer at Casa de Bagni very helpful she telephoned Gisela and arranged our rendezvous in the piazza at Sarteano. Gisela then pointed out to us where all the locals go to gather groceries, Restaurants, buy good quality wine at very good prices...this we appreciated very much. Would you kindly pass my sincere appreciation onto Gisela and Rebecca and if at any stage you require a recommendation for the property, please do not hesitate to contact me via email as I would be very happy to offer this. We will definitely be back to Villa Il Maggio but next time in the winter to see Tuscany in it's true colours. Kindest regards,
Hello Gisela, Thank you once again for sharing your beautiful villa with us. We arrived back home in Australia at midnight last night and we have many fond memories of our time at Il Maggio. I truly hope that you would offer the villa to us to rent at a later stage perhaps in a years time so that we can experience a true Tuscan winter in the house. I hope you are well and it was a pleasure to meet you. We truly regret not availing of your knowledge and arranging a guided tour of art history lessons, perhaps next time? Once again, thank you for your generous hospitality and sincere warmth, we appreciate all you have done. Kind regards,
Buon giorno Manola, We had an awesome time at Villa Le Tolfe! My entire family loved the villa, Siena, the location, and the pool! Jacopo is an excellent host, and a wonderful human being. I truly hope that we can go back in the not too distant future. I would unreservedly recommend Villa Le Tolfe!
Dear Manola, Just want you to know that we adored Villa Le Tolfe, Jacopo and his father, the whole deal. I would love to write a recommendation for your website. Thanks for everything!
Hi Manola, I rented Villa Le Tolfe for 3 weeks during the month of July and I had to write to you and thank you for all you assistance. The experience was terrific! The villa was wonderful and very well located. We really enjoyed being there. I would highly recommend the property to anyone. Thanks again and I am considering returning next year but traveling to the Northern part of Italy. Do you have any properties there? Thanks again!
Ciao Manola, I'm sorry that it has taken so long to write to thank you for all the help you gave me for the stay at Villa Rovezzano. When I returned home my e-mail would not work and it has taken until now to repair the problem. All the eleven members of my family had an enjoyable holiday. The villa was just what we needed and Francesca was very kind and helpful. If it is possible, we would like to visit Tuscany again and I will then contact you to ask for your help with the arrangements. Thank you once again for your assistance and kindness. With best wishes.
Dear Manola, I had hoped to find a minute to email you when we first arrived home …to tell you how wonderful our trip was!! It is so easy to fall back into the busy regular schedule once you return home from vacation. When I consider how close we came to not even finding a place… we were so delighted that, in the end, we were able to reserve Villa Olivella! What a beautiful villa and Mrs. Birindelli was so lovely. It was a bit of a challenge to communicate as we both had very limited knowledge of the opposite language…. But we managed very well and it made it all the more interesting. She was a wonderful hostess and very sweet. So I definitely hope that Peter and I will be able to reserve the same villa another time for sure. It would be an idyllic spot for 2 couples but for this trip. Peter and I were so happy to be independent for this particular trip. We had both had a very busy and demanding work schedule over the winter and spring so the Villa Olivella was the right place for well deserved and much needed rest and relaxation! It was a truly the trip of a lifetime dream for us! Thank you for your help in making it come true!
Hi Manola, I wanted to tell you what a wonderful time I had in Coregia. The house was absolutely perfect and I honestly could have moved in permanently. I loved the village and the people were so nice to me. I hope to return to Coreglia in the future. I miss it! All the best.
We were completely satisfied with our accommodation at the villa Il Fienlino in Lastra a Signa near Florence. It was everything we had been looking for as a place to rent for a week. It was so picturesque, clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. We ended up cooking several evening meals at home, just to watch the sunset over the olive groves and cypress trees. It is so convenient to the village for shopping for groceries at the Intercoop, having dinner out, or catching a bus into Florence. Paola was our hostess and was so helpful(as well as her two children) and full of recommendations. Plus she even left us a bag of her favorite cookies on our doorknob one day. Her dinner suggestions were wonderful, both local ones in the village and in the city. She made us feel very welcome. It was also a convenient spot for day trips to San Gimigianno, Pisa, Cinque Terre, and Sienna from the autostrada. The bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and had great views out of the windows. The local rooster did wake us up in the morning, but it was better than an alarm clock. The kitchen was set up nicely, just needed a few more glasses. Bathrooms were spotless. We did our laundry and luckily had plenty of sun for drying them outside. Loved all of the lemon trees and fresh rosemary on the patio. We definitely felt like we shared a tiny piece of heaven for a week. A truly great find.
Thank you, because you both helped us quite a bit-- THANK YOU, for suggesting Villa Paola. They loved it – it was cold the first night but the people called the next day and had someone out to fix the pipes and all was well. The heat was good after that. Signora Paola and her husband were away in Nepal ( I think that's what they told me) and our people L-O-V-E-D their replacement, the Daughter named Victoria. "She was so sweet, so caring, so beautiful, so helpful..." I'm not exaggerating... they couldn't say enough about her. The dinner the first night was magnificent. Appetizer of Liver Pate, wonderful Chicken in Tuscan style, with vegetables, fresh rolls, etc and Tiramasu for desert that was "out of this world". They ate downstairs in the main dining room. Lovely. Victoria went in with them to Florence for part of a day and got them oriented and met them in a blizzard snow storm when they came back to La Signa by train. The roads were horrible. They WERE THANKING THEIR LUCKY STARS THAT YOU SUGGESTED THE VILLA NEAR FLORENCE AS IT WAS EVEN MORE DEADLY TO THE SOUTH. They said that nobody knows how to deal with snow when it is not expected. They visited Siena and San Gimignano but because of the snow, had to turn back after two hours of fighting the roads and not seeing so no Montepulciano. They all want to go back! So, I am saying Multo bene grazie to you . NOW I WANT HUNDREDS OF TRAVELERS SO THAT I CAN SEND THEM TO VILLA PAOLA. Please know that as soon as I have some people for villas in Italy, I will contact you. Until then, best wishes to you for a good year in the vineyards and good business with only very pleasant tourists!
We just loved Villa Paola, mainly because it was so close to Florence but also in the country side. We really had a great time and wanted to thank you for organizing every thing so well. We really didn’t want to leave. Lying by the pool was just a dream. We will let you know the next time we can come. All the best.
Hi Manola, sorry I never replied to this email as we were already in Venezia. We did connect with Claudia on Saturday, and everything went fine. What a spectacular villa, that was incredibly clean and beautiful. Everyone was pleased with it. Thank you so much for your support!
Dear Manola!! Thank you very much for recommending the Villa dei Medici to us. We really liked the villa and spent a wonderful week there. The villa itself is very nicely furnished and the location is also extremely beautiful. We were also very pleasently surprised by the chef Fabio Guelfi whom we hired for one evening. Thank you again for recommending this place to us. With kind regards.
Villa Settignano: "You must see this place!!!" If you love beauty, Italy and gardens, then this is the place for you. Villa Gamberaia is one of the most fabulous places/gardens in the world - and I have seen many. Take a break from the city and see what the fortunate saw. You will be astounded by its gorgeousness and serenity, as few people make it to this place. The big house - the Villa - is a wonderful Tuscan manor and although it isn’t open for tours, the gardens are so beautiful that you won't care. I spent at least two hours strolling around, enjoying this masterpiece and returned the next day for a second look. It was that great. There were wonderful walls of Italian cypresses, giant terracotta pots with humongous lemon trees and the most picturesque views of the Tuscan hillsides, filled with olive groves. And you feel as though you own the place because hardly anyone else is there. I have been many times since and my recommendation is to visit in the morning or even better in the evening so that you can enjoy the spectacular view of Florence as the sun is setting. After they close up, go to the nearby village, Settignano, and enjoy a terrific meal at either of the two fantastic restaurants. Believe me, you will remember this experience as one of your favorite in Italy. They even have places to stay, but that is another review. Go! You must see Villa Settignano!
Hi Manola! Debbie just sent us the response you sent to her e-mail. Thank you so much - I will most definitely recommend your company and you personally to all my friends and family. And we do hope to return before too long - it was so much fun! We didn't want to leave. We all feel the same if you visit California - we would love to see you and show you around where we live - it is very different from your country but it is nice where we are too! So please look us up if you do come! Many many thanks!!
Hi, Sorry I still did not respond yet. But the holiday was fantastic! The villa, the surrounding we loved it! We hope to come back again. Also the dinner from the chef was very delicious. Also the facilities in and around the house were very good. A nice kitchen with all necessary things as an oven, magnetron, fridge etc. The different terraces and the swimmingpools we have enjoyed it! Thanks! Best regards.
Dear Manola, We had a wonderful visit to Tuscany and thoroughly enjoyed Villa Aia. The house was perfect for our large family group and the views from the terraces and pool were magnificent. Breakfasts on the upper terrace and dinners as a family on the lower terrace while watching the sunset were enchanted The location was convenient for sightseeing and grocery shopping although the villa was so perfect that we hardly wanted to leave! The Surci family was helpful and hospitable directing the airlines to the house with lost luggage, bringing the doctor for the son who arrived with tonsillitis and gifting us with olive oil and wine from their own production. We could not have asked for anything more. Thank you for recommending Villa Aia.
Manola, I am Ken Barrea’s sister, and I am very sorry that I did not meet you while we were in Italy. But I did want to tell you what a wonderful time we had in Sant Albino at Podere Sant'Albino! I was able to be there for only 2 ½ weeks, but it was an amazing time. Podere Sant'Albino was the perfect villa for our family – just the right size and location. The villa was beautiful, and Silvia, Maurizo, and Paola were the perfect hosts. They had signs on each of our doors when we arrived, and they had purchased food and flowers for us before arrived. Maurizo and his assistant prepared dinner for our entire family to celebrate our son’s 18th birthday, and it was a delicious feast. We were glad to be near a small town, while still being in a very private location. We were also glad to be so close to the wonderful town of Montepulciano, as well as to Chiusi, for easy train access. Ken could not have found a better villa for our family. The highlight of our trip to Italy was our trip to Tufara, and that trip would not have happened without you and all of your hard work and special efforts. Not only did you make wonderful arrangements for our bus trip, but you truly went above and beyond in making all the calls to locate our cousins in Tufara. It was an unbelievable day, and one that none of us will ever forget. Without your efforts, we would have never met our family. I think Ken has sent you pictures of our dad’s cousins waiting for us in the town square when we arrived – it was an amazing sight. We had a wonderful wonderful day in Tufara – meeting our huge Italian family, seeing where our grandfather lived and the church where our grandparents were married, and having a delicious meal with all of our family. We all cried when we left. I also want to let you know what a fabulous driver and guide Giuseppe was – our trip would not have been as wonderful without him. Thank you so much for all you did to make our trip to Italy truly a once in a lifetime experience – I am so glad that Ken found you and InTuscany.net!
Manola, well, we arrived home safely, but haven't adjusted to being back to "normal life" yet...still wish we were over there on vacation! We just wanted to thank you again for all of your help. Podere Sant'Albino was beautiful and perfectly located. We made many friends in San Albino (the Cannetiello family from "The Saloon" and Luana from the little grocery store at the bottom of the hill). This trip was truly a once in a life time opportunity and without a doubt, the best part was the day spent in Tufara. We can't thank you enough for helping find our relatives there. They were all at the town square waiting for us when we arrived and gave us a tour that we will never forget. Having my father see the house that his family lived in was truly magical. Hopefully, we created family bonds that will continue to grow and last forever. Also, the bus and driver worked out excellent. His patience and humor was a perfect mix for us and by the end of the 2 days I think we could consider him one of our other long distance "cousins". Could you please send me his name and company or somehow to contact them? He introduced himself as "Joseph", but I never got his last name nor his "real italian" first name. I want to make sure that he and his company realize how much fun we had and that he was a big part of that! I am including a few pictures from our time in Tufara (I took almost 2000 pictures during the 30 days, but I wont bore you with them all!!). Hopefully some of us will make it back to Italy to continue filly up the photo album! Aqain, thank you very very much or should I say Grazie Mille for everything!!
Manola, our family had a great stay at Castello del Chianti. It is a perfect place for family vacation. The surrounding is so beautiful and the place is peaceful. Maria is an exquisite chef, we have many good meals with her cooking. People at the property are nice and most helpful. We surely will consider the villa again when we return. Thank you for your assistance in arranging this.
Trip was great! Everything about the villa was perfect. I am sending you some new clients. Thanks agaian!
Hi, we had a wonderful week in Villa Niccolai. It is a really nice house, well equipped and comfortably furnished. Perfectly situated for excursions to Lucca, Florence, Pisa and Vinci, nice dinners in the villa and a few visits to the pool. All in all a fantastic week. We will surely be back. Kind regards,
Dear Manola, Happy to write to you at the end of a wonderful week at Villa Nicollai. As always your recommendations are excellent and we want to thank you a lot . The location the garden the rooms and every detail inside and above all Angela and her family who are real angels and took care with so much love on any request to let us have such a good expirience on our stay. Manola you are great and I am so happy to reccomend your website and your name to many of my friends. Thank you so much and "see you" on our next vacation in Italy. Best regards,
Dear Angela, thank you so much for letting us use your wonderfull villa. It's a magnificient spot from which we enjoied Tuscany very much. We hope we can get back here soon!
Dear Manola, It is about two months now since our family stayed in Villa Nicolai and I still owe you a note to say that the whole family had a wonderful week in that villa. All was perfect, very well maintained and very comfortable. We had little contact with the owner-family, but when we met they were most helpful and forthcoming. Also on behalf of my wife and children I wish to thank you for the services you have provided. We will not hesitate to recommend your agency or the villa to friends when the occasion arises. With kind regards!
We have had a wonderful week in your beautiful villa. What a treat it has been to walk through the grape vines and stroll the grounds that are so manicured. Your website photos do not do the villa nor the grounds justice. We will have memories of this place for many years to come. We hope to return some day! Lorenzo and Mercedes thank you for all of your help and hospitality. You made us feel like we were at home. We even played some bocce, we left these here for your next visitors. It was fun! The meal the first night was excellent!
Hi Manola, I rented the villa Antica Sosta with my friends, through your company, last spring and it was a delightful experience from beginning to end. Thank you so much!
Hi Manola, I just wanted to drop you and your colleagues a quick note to say we had an absolutely wonderful time. The villa was spectacular, as was the dinner. Thanks so much!
We loved the stay at Vicky's Casa Rossa. The house was the perfect place to stay in Tuscany. Thank you again for arranging it for us!
Hi Manola, Just to let you know, we loved our stay at Villa Casa Rossa. Thank you very much for recommending it!! Regards.
Dear Manola, I would like to thank you for wonderful holiday I had! Tuscany is splendid, interesting & tasty! Villa with big swimming pool was great (Villa Sorbello / Cortona). We are really satisfied about services and quality of rental. Perfect place to spent nice vacation. Thank you also for touristic guides contacts. It’s really more interesting to visit cities with a professional guide! Thank you, once again, for your help to organize my Tuscany’s holiday this year! I hope back there soon! Best regards.
Lovely spot had a great time hosts are number one Tuscany was better than we would have hoped for.
Just a few lines to let you know that we all had the most wonderful and relaxing summer holiday staying at the Villa Il Turco. The Villa and Tuscany was far better than can be imagined by reading and looking at internet pictures or books. It allowed us to step back in time and feel and breathe the real history of a magnificent building and a delightful and charming area of Italy. Perhaps words can not describe the true feeling we all felt but ‘Falling in Love’ is perhaps the closest. Also the hospitality shown by the owner and all the staff was overpowering, we were not treated as tourists but as though we had been close friends for many years and the food and wine, eaten in a beautiful surrounding, will be sadly missed. Our visits to Florence were very educational and all the Museums and Galleries we visited were wonderful and traveling on the local bus made us feel part of the community. We will, having fallen in love with your country and people, without doubt visit Italy again next year to see more of the area and hopefully travel to different regions and perhaps stay once again in IL TURCO (with a better fluency in Italian). Please pass on to all at the Villa (and Mario who gave us a tour of the Wine Cellars), especially you father, our warmest thanks to all who made our stay so happy. Thanking you also for all your help and information given to us. Kindest Regards.
What an enchanting villa. The pictures do not do this house any justice. It is breathtakingly beautiful and incredibly clean. The grounds and the surrounding countryside are amazing. There is even a working vineyard and a cellar underneath the house! Waking up every morning was a much anticipated event. It is also so we situated. We were 15-20 minutes outside of Florence by car and the surrounding towns within 2 hours are enough to keep anyone enthralled. Our 2 week vacation should have been 1 month. The family that owns the villa are the nicest people on earth. They were gracious, helpful, fun, etc. They also run one of the best restaurants in the entire area. If you are into food and wine, there is also an amazing restaurant in Cerbaia. It's called La Tenda Rossa (The Red Tent). Be prepared to pay a lot, but it will be the most amazing dining experience you'll ever have.
Dear, We just got back from Lake Como and are happy to be home, finally. But we had an absolutely perfect stay at Villa Il Turco and thank you for everything you and your family did to make it that way. I wish we could have stayed another week. We hope to see you again sometime, at the guest rooms across the street from the Villa. My best to you.
Manola, I am writing to say what a wonderful holiday we spent in Iano. The location is the perfect combination of seclusion and convenience with a couple of restaurants and the mini-market so close. The villa itself was first class, of high quality and cleanliness. Everything we needed for the seven of us including 'la piccola' as Emily was called by Manuela. A special word of thanks to Manuela for looking after us so well, she really made us so welcome - and we will miss her. We would be very happy to go there again in the future. Kind regards.
Dear Manola, Just a note to let you know we had a great time at the Villa Valentina. In the 10+ year we have been renting houses in Italy, France and Spain we have not seen such a well kept home and hospitality. Manuela has been a wonderful host, she welcomed us with warmth and attention, made sure all was well for us and attended to any request or need. The house is well situated, clean and all amenities are well appointed. The pool is in a great (well kept) garden setting, numerous lounge chairs and table setting for meals. There are outdoor wood stoves as well and the property is surrounded in vineyards. All in all we recommend this property very highly. Best regards.
Manola, we had an amazing time , thanks for being so quick to respond with everything. The Villa was great , perfect location and no problems. We go to Tuscany every year in the Summer so we will keep in touch. Thanks!
Hi Manola, Thanks for your note :) We have finally made it back to Australia after travelling to Malta after our stay in Tuscany. Firstly a big thank you for making the whole process of booking and staying at San Donato Villa so easy. Your relaxed and efficient manner was really apparent and much appreciated. As for the villa itself - it was utterly delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The property is beautiful in terms of its decor, surroundings and grounds, I think we were most impressed with the little touches such as the book collection, the villas own olive oil to cook with, Cherie the housekeeper, the immaculately maintained pool and gardens, I could go on and on as everything was done to perfection...... Please forward our comments to the owner also and should we ever be in the region again we will be sure to contact you. Thanks again and best wishes!
Buongirono! We LOVED San Donato! It was everything we had dreamed of and more! We will definitely be staying there again and will recommend to everyone we know! What a gorgeous house, all amenities, supplies, table linens, cookware, every cooking utensil you would ever need, music, books, it was fabulous!!! We have lots of great pictures and wonderful memories to keep us warm in the wet Vancouver winter! Thank you for everything!!
Thank you for your e-mail! In fact we are now back from our holidays and must say that our stay at San Donato was wonderful. The house, the garden, the pool, the estate, everything is beautiful and perfectly maintained and looked after. The surroundings, including San Gusmè, are also wonderful. Thanks for a perfect summer holiday. Regards.
Hi Manola, first of all I want to let you know what a wonderful trip my husband and family had to Tuscany. We rented San Donato di Villa Arceno from October 3-10. It was beautiful and we had an amazing trip. Please know that we had a fine time indeed and will one day hopefully return. Sincerely.
Dear Manola, We have returned home after our European travels, and I'm writing to tell you how much we enjoyed San Donato di Villa Arceno. What a beautiful, restful setting it is. We loved our little villa and the garden and the views and the village of San Gusmè so close by. Thank you.
Dear Mr. Derrick, We appreciated your personal note with the return of our security deposit check. We absolutely loved San Donato! We shared it with good friends who were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary (the trip to Italy was their idea) and we all had an incredible time. Your place truly can be described as 'paradise'. We appreciated the write up on places to go and things to do and see. We had fantastic meals at Da Antonio and La Porta del Chianti (sp?) in San Gusme. We also prepared a number of great meals at the house - rabbit cacciatore and chicken with olives and capers. If there was one thing that it would have been nice to have that wasn't there it would be a grill to do steaks or chops (to try out your suggested use of truffle oil) but we didn't suffer without it. The pool was delightful in the hot weather - how is it the water stays so cool? The views from the house and pool are phenomenal! It was more than we imagined it would be (you should consider adding a photo or two of the vistas in the website). We will recommend San Donato at Villa Arceno every chance we get. Thank you for making such a great escape possible. Sincerely,
Manola - Yes, sadly, we have returned from Italy. If only vacations would last forever! Thank you so much for arranging for our wine and tour with Andre and John Marco (?). They were wonderful! As for a review of the property, please feel free to publish all or any of the below comments: Upon arrival to the top of our very own Tuscan hill, we were greeted by the owners, Enzo and Christina, standing before a beautiful villa. We could not believe this was to be our home for the next week. The views from this property were better than any we saw in our travels. The bedrooms were all spacious; bathrooms all updated; the kitchen was fantastic. But nothing could compare to the covered terrace (steps from the kitchen and dining room) and pool area below where we spent all of our waking moments. The pictures on your website cannot do justice to the majesty of the views before us every day. It was like a dream. Enzo and Christina are lovely and so welcoming and treated us like members of their family. The location, just a few miles from the Certaldo train station, made travelling around the Tuscan region so easy, although the drive up the hill to our villa at night was more than a little scary for those of us not so familiar with manual transmission automobiles. The town itself provided us with all the basic amenities, like fuel for our cars and wine and groceries at the local COOP store. We would highly recommend this property to any large group travelling together and would highly recommend your services as well. Thank you again for all your assistance in the planning of this fantastic week!
The week we had at the Villa was great, the location and the sights are wonderful. The Villa itself is spacious and you feel right at home. Annica took wonderful care of us, and her suggestions where to go and where to eat were great. I wish we could have stayed longer, we'll be back!
Dear Annica, We would like to say a big thankyou for all the hard work that you did for our wedding. The meal you prepared for us was outstanding and the garden and dining table looked lovely when we arrived back from the wedding ceremony. The villa itself is beautiful and we are all still talking about how breathtaking the views are. Every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day. No matter how many times we rang you for advice, nothing was too much trouble for you. Please also thank Franco for the very tasty wine that he gave us, it was very much appreciated. Once again, thank you for everything.
Just a quick note to let you know how incredibly wonderful our Tuscan holiday was at Villa nell'Oliveto this past month. Kathy and Eric were simply amazing hosts and our accommodations were outstanding. All three of us couples who traveled and stayed together were so impressed with the beauty and serenity that is ever present at this villa in Castelmuzio and how friendly people were in this small village in general. It was perfectly positioned for all of our day-trips around this beautiful region and we would recommend it highly to anyone wanting the ideal get away vacation in the gorgeous Tuscany countryside.
Thank you for a fabulous week. Villa nell'Oliveto was all I had imagined & we were able to relax with Francesca, at 17 months, exploring the secret but safe garden & pool. We both adored the area & its wild landscape. It has an authenticity which is hard to find. See you again soon.
We spent two wonderful weeks Villa nell'Oliveto. The weather, the food, the wine, the swimming pool, the duomos, the landscape, the lovely villages.......everything was perfect. Special thanks to Eric & Kathy for their kindness, precious advice & delicious oil [& the welcome basket!].
You never know what you are going to get when booking a house from afar. Sometimes the pictures are deceiving & it's not nearly as nice as shown. However, in the case of Casa Oliveto it is even more beautiful than the pictures! The house became our home away from home & we found that it has one of the most stunning views in all of Tuscany. Thank you so much for your generous hospitality. We enjoyed every minute of it.
The kindness of our hosts, Eric & Kathy. The fabulous villa & fantastic views. The village of Castelmuzio - friendly & welcoming. The lovely pool & local villages. The lovely pastas & pizzas. The lovely hammock next to the rock table [Maizie Bennett]...... We had a wonderful time - & hope to be back!
Manola, I did not get a chance to sign Kathy and Eric’s guestbook before we left the villa so I am hoping you can pass my comments on to them as well as add to your site’s testimonials… We had a wonderful vacation at villa nell’Oliveto. It was a perfect property for our group, which included 3 small children (ages 4, 2, and 8 months). The property was almost all fenced in with a very secure, tall gate/fence around the pool making it one of the few vacation rentals where the kids could walk freely and safely around the gorgeous property. The views were stunning, Castlemuzio charming (with its own small playground, again great for the kids) and literally right out the door (though while on the villa’s grounds, you feel totally secluded). Kathy and Eric were terrific, providing a welcome basket that got us easily through the first day or two, without worries about finding food. The house was lovely, all the beds very comfortable, and there was clearly an eye toward outdoor enjoyment, with ample tables, chairs, loungers, a hammock, etc. We hope to go back someday – can’t stop thinking about it – so peaceful and idyllic, as one other poster rightly described it! Also, wanted to thank you and your team for all your help with our vacation, patiently answering all questions, booking our car rentals, etc. We have already recommended InTuscany.net to friends planning to travel to Italy next year and will continue to do so! Thank you.
Dearest Eric & Kathy, We simply adore Villa nell'Oliveto & Castelmuzio! The setting idyllic, the villa perfect, the pool divine [perhaps not when we first arrived....ooh chilly], the people charming... all in all a perfect 2 weeks. Thank you for the welcome basket, for organising the cooking classes with Agnetta & for your warmth & hospitality... & the sublime olive oil. We hope to be back. With thanks & fond wishes.
