Back
to Spineto estate ...
Good Morning Rebecca,
I had planned to send you an email
about the villa but was overwhelmed with reentry. I
was traveling in Europe for three weeks so I am still
trying to catch up here.
The villas were fabulous! Our group
stayed in la cerchiaia. It was very comfortable and
was especially nice to have our own bathrooms. The views
and sunset from the pool are incredible. The yard is
landscaped with lavender and rosemary and other herbs
and wildflowers. There were lots of butterflies and
birds and we always had flowers to bring in the house
and herbs to cook with. Every morning, "the bread
man" would come by with his truck filled with breads,
danish and tarts. We would have our coffee outside and
plan the day.
I was pleased with the location in
Tuscany. We were close to A1 and Sarteano is a wonderful
little village. We ate at Santa Chiara one night --
outside in the garden -- and that was wonderful. I'm
not sure I would recommend driving on those winding
roads but I assume you get used to it after a while.
The maids came to the villa every
morning and cleaned the bathrooms and the kitchen. I
think they also made beds but I always did mine anyway.
Our linens were all changed on Wednesday and we got
extra towels for pool use.
The villa was furnished with all the
necessities. Lots of dishes and glassware and all we
needed to make some fabulous meals.
The abbey responded to any requests
very promptly. There was s problem with the pool filter
in the other villa and they sent someone out quickly.
We lost power due to a storm and they sent people out
to make sure it was restored -- even on Sunday.
One negative about the villa was the
lack of screens on the windows. It was such a pleasure
to have our windows open yet we would get inundated
with flies and bees.
We were charged for some missing glassware
and dishes which no one can figure out. We didn't break
or lose anything. My cousin who checked out just paid
them but we still don't know what happened.
Our wedding dinner at the abbey was
fabulous. The decor, the tables, and the fresh arrangements
were so lovely. It was a very pleasant evening and we
were all very pleased.
I would highly recommend the villa
to anyone. In fact, we would all love to come back there
again sometime.
My daughter and her husband had a
fabulous balloon trip with Robert. We drove them to
the launch site so I got to meet him. He is a fascinating
man and we had a lovely morning watching them fly over
the most gorgeous countryside and then joined them for
breakfast in some field. It was incredible!
Thanks for all you did in arranging
our stay and I hope to contact you again for another
visit to Tuscany. It was hard to leave such a special
place.
Fondly,
Susan.
