 Castello
di Monteggiori is a small castle. Built on the 1000
year old site of a Roman outpost, it has five terraces
and incredible breathtaking panoramic views of the Tuscan
countryside, mountains and seaside that take in the
isle of Gorgona and gulf of Portovenere.
Castello di Monteggiori embodies the
unique Italian balance of ancient and contemporary.
Working with the remnants of a regional castle the owners
have kept any thing salvageable from the ruins whilst
sparing nothing in style, design, furnishings and respect
for the past.
Walking distance from it’s village
means you can walk from the villa to a wonderful restaurant
for your lunch or dinner (please note that there is
not a bar in the village at the moment). Every day a
van comes to the village to sell groceries, bread, fruit
and vegetables. Other shops are only a few miles or
kilometers away.
ACCOMODATION: The
property comprises two apartments inter connected by
a garden.  They are equipped with hi-tech facilities,
interior decoration with the best modern Italian design
furniture, satellite television, internet access.
The
main apartment has one double bedroom with en suite,
full bathroom with bath and shower, a living room, dining
room and groovy kitchen. There is also a wonderful sun
deck with a sun worshipping mosaic where Roman feet
once tirelessly paced the ramparts. This apartment has
a washing machine, dishwasher, fireplace and loads of
style. It's equipped by satellite television, internet
access, telephone, hi-fi, laundry room and many others
facilities.
The dependence has a living room/dining room with a
kitchen corner, double bedroom and full bathroom with
shower. Modern appliances and cutting edge design. There
is a sofa bed in the living room if you wanted to sleep
two additional people.
The villa really is out fitted with

from the property. The owner or one of their staff will
help you to transport your baggage on arrival and departure
or large amounts of shopping.
THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING
ENVIRONMENT: The property is surrounded by
an antique wall and olive groves. The garden is replete
with fruit trees and flowers, there is also a vegetable
garden where, in the summer, are grown fresh tomatoes,
salad, onions, cucumbers, string beans, courgettes,
eggplants, peppers, basil, etc.
 There is an above ground pool (4 x
8 meters or 13.12 x 26.25 ft.) five terraces, one of
which is a wonderful sun deck with a sun worshipping
mosaic. Terraces and gardens are fully equipped with
sun deck chairs, umbrella, tables and chairs, barbeque,
etc.
LOCATION: Monteggiori is near to Viareggio as well as with easy
reach of most important Tuscan places of interest. The
nearest airport is Pisa (about half an hour in the car).
Florence airport is an hour and Rome about three.
Castello di Monteggiori is only 3
minutes walk on an old stone road through the very quiet
old village of Monteggiori, beautiful walking paths
outside the village. In order to bring up luggage and
shopping there is a trucked vehicle which the lady in
charge of the house can drive.
Monteggiori has the Tyrrhenian sea
to the front and the Apuan Alps behind. It is in the
heart of the most creative artistic area in Italy, near
to the marble caves of Carrara as well as the stone
sculpture studios and bronze art foundries of Pietrasanta
where renowned international artists come to work. 
The village has a very good restaurant but also, a lady
from the village will be happy to come up and prepare
meals for you for 100 Euro a time plus the cost of the
ingredients.
OTHER
FACILITIES AVAILABLE NEAR BY: From Castello di Monteggiori you can have a beautiful
panorama stretching from the Maritime Alps in France
(when it’s very clear), the Gulf of Portovenere,
the isle of Gorgona, Capraia, Corsica down to Pisa.
Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, where one can find shops
and boutiques, night life and sports facilities, are
8-10 km (about 5 ½ miles) from La Rocca di Monteggiori.
Please
note: This property does not have air conditioning.
Air conditioning is rarely necessary in Tuscany due
to the lack of humidity and the temperate climate. We
do not have air conditioning in our offices, in any
of our homes or in any of our larger rental villas.
