Podere Monti is a 16th
century farmhouse built on Roman foundations, nestled
between woods and olive groves.
It
has been turned into a residence of refined charm that
retains an atmosphere of informal welcome. The landscape
and environment of Montepulciano are among the greenest
you can imagine serene, relaxing and completely liberating.
Nature in its pure abundance dominates every aspect
of life here.
Soft, rolling hills delight
the eyes, beckoning visitors to wander, on foot, by
bicycle or on horseback, immersing them selves completely
in this ancient landscape.
The hills and valleys
are dominated by olive groves and vineyards. Cultivation
is still done using traditional time honored methods
that results in produce bursting with flavour and goodness,
straight from the earth to the table.
ACCOMODATION: At Podere Monti every room is a story. The furnishings
and decoration have been carefully chosen to give each
one its own unique character. The bedrooms are named
for different artists who contributed to the rich cultural
heritage of Montepulciano. Their works can be seen in
the pictures hung on the walls of the room bearing their
name.
All
the beds are superior king-size, with bedsteads of handcrafted
metal. The traditional ceilings of brick and wood beams
have been preserved and the floors are of wood planks.
Antique sofas are covered in rich, luminous fabrics,
and natural linens create a wonderful play of light
with the warm Tuscan sun.
Each room has its own bathroom and these are an intriguing
blend of the old and the new; modern washbasins rest
on 19th century stands and liberty-style lamps illuminate
the floors of Etruscan clay tile.
The ancient structure
is arranged over two floors. The upper floor is reached
by an internal staircase that leads to the traditional
arched loggia. Here you will find a sprawling living
room with an enormous fireplace that was once the kitchen
and heart of the original building. on this level are
also two junior suites and two double bedrooms each
with en suite bathroom.
Down stairs are two further
suites, a communal laundry and another double bedroom
and bathroom that have been reclaimed from the old stables
and cantinas. The old barn has been converted into a
large living room furnished with modern sofas and lit
by large windows with views of the lawns and gardens. There
is also a light and sunny modern kitchen and dining
room with an original Roman floor that was discovered
during the renovations.
“Of all wines,
Montepulciano is King,” wrote Francesco Redi.
Guests have the opportunity to confirm the truth of
this as each room is paired with a different winery
and they can sample the renowned wines of the region
from their own wine cellar.
THE GARDEN AND
SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: The large garden at
Podere Monti is nestled in the woods and olive groves
of the farm and in perfect harmony with its surroundings.
There are flowering shrubs
throughout the season, the green is studded with cypress,
broom, rose and lilac, and aromatic herbs perfume the
air. Guests can enjoy this wonderful garden from the
shade of an oak or elm tree, while stretched out on
the grass, or comfortably seated under the cool wisteria
arbour.
Podere Monti's splendid
pool is placed in the sunniest, most open spot on the
property. It is equipped with a relaxing and pampering
hydro massage function. While relaxing in the solarium,

below and catch glimpses of Montepulciano nearby.
