La Rocca di Nicola is
a charming village house restructured from an old garrison.
Close to the sea side, Lucca and Pisa it has every thing
necessary for a wonderful holiday including two panoramic
terraces for taking in the stupendous views.
Situated
in the medieval hamlet of Nicola di Ortonovo, this
11th century stone house was once the residence of the
garrison that defended the plain of Luni in Medieval
times. It is set high above the border between Liguria
and Tuscany, looking over rolling country side and woods
with the Mediterranean shore on one side and mountains
on the other.
ACCOMODATION: This
property has recently been restored to a high standard.
The layout is on three levels with panoramic terraces
overlooking the Tirrenian coast. It is newly furnished
in comfortable holiday style that includes some antique
pieces. Peace and privacy are totally guaranteed. On
the ground floor is the entrance way, the kitchen with
dishwasher, a large living room/dining room, satellite
Television, a fire place and a terrace.
On the next floor is another (the
main) entrance way, a second large living room with
a panoramic terrace and access via the terrace to a
small tower with a double bedroom and bathroom with
shower. The
second floor which is reached by the internal stair
case has the seventh bed on the landing and then a double
bedroom, a room with two twin beds (adult single size)
and a bathroom with bath tub.
Both bathrooms are equipped with
hairdryers. Because one bedroom and bathroom have an
exterior entrance way, this property is perfect for
extended families, groups of friends holidaying together
or people who may like a degree of separation from their
teenaged children.
Please note that there is no telephone
in the house. Guests to whom this would be important
are advised to bring their cell phones with roaming.
There is good reception. There is also is a public telephone
in the restaurant of the village.
Although there is a place to unload your baggage near
to the house on a day to day basis your car will need
to be parked in the village car park which is about
5 minutes walk (or less) away from the house.
THE
GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: Due to
it’s location in a medieval village this villa
has no garden. Instead there are the two totally delightful
panoramic terraces that are quite breath taking. The
village is very very quiet. No traffic noise can be
heard as the village was designed 100's of years ago
and it is impossible for a car to enter the narrow streets.
The road stops at the entrance to the village (where
the nearest car park is). The views are those of the
seaside and the mountains and the little village where
people can only enter walking though paths, stairs and
arches. In the village you will find two restaurants,
a bar, and a shop for essential foods.
LOCATION: La Rocca
di Nicola is near to Carrara as well as with in easy

OTHER FACILITIES AVAILABLE
NEAR BY: Tennis, swimming pool and horse racing
on request.Golf course, seaside, hiking.
Please note: This property
does not have air conditioning. Air conditioning is
rarely necessary in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity
and the temperate climate. Almost all of our properties
at InTuscany are in remodeled medieval or renaissance
buildings. They generally have very thick walls and
high ceilings, most are built on the tops of our gently
rolling hills where they catch the breezes that spring
up at mid day and in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning
is only found by the sea side or in the city centers
where noise and/or humidity make it necessary. We do
not have air conditioning in our offices or in any of
our own homes.
