Villa
Ortensia lies on the border between Liguria and Tuscany,
on a beautiful hill surrounded by chestnuts, olive trees
and cherry trees.  The temperate microclimate, the sun’s
rays illuminating its ancient stone walls from dawn
to dusk, a view spanning from the Apuan Alps to the
sea on clear days or simply the pleasant sensation of
being in another world make Villa Ortensia a really
unique place.
Originally an ancient rural mansion,
the property has been completely restored and furnished
by Letizia (your landlady), who gave it a really personal
touch. A warm atmosphere created by antique furniture
and paintings wraps the entire home.
Please note that this property is
not recommended for children under 12 due to the delicacy
of the furnishings.
ACCOMODATION: The house has two floors.
 On the ground-floor, the stone portal
leads to the living area, with a pleasant country-style
kitchen equipped with everything (dishwasher, fridge,
American coffee maker). There is also; a traditional
17th century dining room, a living room with a fireplace
and comfortable sofas in perfect harmony with the colours
of the terracotta and Tuscan grit pavement, and a bathroom
with shower.
A sandstone staircase leads up to
the first floor, where a warm parquet gives access to
a bright double room with two windows opening onto a
wonderful panorama (these beds can be split on request),
the master bedroom with a romantic canopy bed, and a
charming bathroom with tub.
The décor is high-level and
well trimmed in every detail – in addition to
satellite TV, a CD stereo, a telephone and a mobile
phone at the clients’ disposal, you will find
hi-fi diffusion in every room, Flanders linen bedcovers
and sheets, and embroidered bathrobes and towels.
 THE
GARDEN AND SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT: Outside,
a large, completely equipped (sun umbrella, table, chairs
and sun lounges) patio surrounded by olive trees and
a romantic little terrace with Liberty table and chairs
offer you complete relaxation.
The fine swimming pool (occasionally
shared with the landlady) gives you the excellent opportunity
of spending delightful hours in the sun surrounded by
orchards and vegetable gardens.
On your arrival, Letizia will welcome
you with her smile and a simple dinner lovingly prepared
especially for you.
LOCATION: Villa
Ortensia is near to Carrara and Cinque Terra, as well
as with in easy reach of most important Tuscan places
of interest. The nearest airport is Pisa (30 minutes).
Florence airport is 1 hour and Rome airport 3 hours
by car.
OTHER
FACILITIES AVAILABLE NEAR BY: From Villa Ortensia
you can easily  reach places of great touristic interest
like Cinque Terre, the Golfo dei Poeti, Portovenere
and Portofino, the Apuan Alps and the white marble caves
in Carrara (20 minutes away by car). The beaches of
Versilia are 30 minutes away), the medieval town of
Sarzana (10 minutes), Northern Tuscan towns such as
Pisa (40 minutes by car), Lucca (30 minutes), Florence
( 1 hour).
There are ferry companies that will
take you to visit the beautiful Cinque Terre, Golfo
dei Poeti, Portovenere and Portofino. Boats depart also
from Marina di Carrara (10 km or just over 6 miles away).
