This villa is perched on the top of
a hill the views are endlessly breath taking. Wrap around
balconies ensure that you can take full advantage of
them whilst immersed in complete privacy and tranquillity.
Villa
Salvini is surrounded by a large private garden near
the top of a hill overlooking the sea along the Tuscan-Liguria
border. Although it is only 10 km (just over 6 miles)
from the shore, it is high enough into the foothills
of the Apuan Alps to provide cool temperatures in summer,
beautiful colours in autumn and heavily-scented flowers
in spring.
Just 300 meters (about 300 yards)
down the road is the beautifully preserved medieval
hamlet of Peralta, whose cordial residents always extend
a warm welcome to newcomers. Because it is slightly
off the beaten track, this area offers a wonderful opportunity
to experience Italy as the Italians do, not merely as
a foreign holiday destination.
Inside, Villa Salvini is furnished
like an authentic Italian home, with a mixture of comfortable
contemporary pieces and pretty antiques. It is the owners
personal holiday home.
Despite
its proximity to Peralta, the property is totally secluded
and private. Just down the road is the lovely hill town
of Camaiore; Lucca (25 km or 15 ½ miles) and
Pisa (30 km or just over 18 ½ miles) are only
slightly farther. Day trips are easy to the five delightful
fishing villages called Cinqueterre (65 km or nearly
40 miles).
If you're here in summer you'll surely
want to experience a day at the beach and immerse your
self in Italian beach culture which is very entertaining,
The “bella figura” along the board walk
keeps us amused for hours.
If designer sun glasses don’t
do it for you then any time of year is great to explore
the almost entirely unknown hills of the Garfagnana,
right behind the villa and up into the hinter lands,
they are the only part of Tuscany that has escaped the
attention of mass tourism and retained the authenticity
of centuries past.
Please note that this villa has an
isolated feel. There is little in the village in the
way of bars and restaurants and due to the steep incline,
although the distance is short it feels like a bit of
a hike.
ACCOMODATION: Villa
Salvini is built on a hill and so all floors are at
ground level. The lowest floor has a bedroom only with
an exit to the garden as well as stair case to go to
the next level.
On
the main floor is a double living room with three sofas
(one converts into a double bed), fireplace, card table
and satellite TV; as well as a modern eat-in kitchen
with full stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and plenty
of dishes and cookware. There is also a full bath room
with shower.
Upstairs are a double bedroom, a triple
bedroom, and a bathroom with bathtub. The house has
central heating throughout. A hair dryer is available
on request.
There is also telephone with a counter
from which you may make or receive any type of call.
At the Villa there is a computer with internet connexion
for the use of the guests.
THE GARDEN AND SURROUNDING
ENVIRONMENT: Your family is bound to spend
time enjoying the garden, which has a table and chairs,
sun lounges and an outdoor shower.
Conveniently
near to the kitchen is a large terrace at ground level
with a wood-burning oven that can be used for pizza
or for barbecuing.
There is enough
lawn for rowdy ball games and plenty of privacy for
getting an all over tan.
Please note that the geography of
the area is quite dramatic (making for gorgeous views)
and so the road to the villa is narrow and twisting.
It is paved the whole way and maintained by the city
council, so in good condition. We didn’t have
a problem with it our selves but some more nervous drivers
or people disposed to car sickness might not feel completely
comfortable.
LOCATION: Villa Salvini
is near to Pisa, Lucca, Florence and the beach (lido
di Cammaiore only 10 kilometers or about 6 miles away)
as well aswith easy reach of most important Tuscan
places of interest. The nearest airport is Pisa (30
minutes by car). Florence airport is one hour and Rome
airport about 4 hours.
OTHER FACILITIES AVAILABLE
NEAR BY: Tennis, golf, the beach, horse riding,
bike riding, hiking, wine tasting, fabulous dining,
thermal spas, designer out let shopping, Etruscan ruins
and Renaissance and medieval art and architecture.
Please note: This property
does not have air conditioning. Air conditioning is
rarely necessary in Tuscany due to the lack of humidity
and the temperate climate. Almost all of our properties
at InTuscany are in remodeled medieval or renaissance
buildings. They generally have very thick walls and
high ceilings, most are built on the tops of our gently
rolling hills where they catch the breezes that spring
up at mid day and in the evenings.
Generally air conditioning
is only found by the sea side or in the city centers
where noise and/or humidity make it necessary. We do
not have air conditioning in our offices or in any of
our own homes.
