Villa Amelia, now a cosy rental property, was once a small church of the Cortona countryside. San Silvestro church is named in several historical documents, the last one dated 1577 when its control under the territorial cathedral.
Later on it was transformed in a classic Tuscan farmhouse. Some special details testify this medieval origin, a curious window shaped like a bell and an ancient fresco still partly visible representing the saint naming the church.
Villa Amelia is located close to the Etruscan town of Cortona (only 1.5 km away) and within easy access to the most important South Tuscan towns (such as Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino) and the Umbria region.
GARDEN & SWIMMING POOL: The owner lives in a separate villa about 100 meters away where it is located the violin shaped pool (1.20 meter deep) only occasionally shared with owner. The pool can be reached through a gravel road or by a path crossing the vineyard and vegetable garden where you are welcome to pick something.
Outside the villa a nice pergola is equipped with table and chairs for al fresco dining. Barbecue and parking available on the property.
ACCOMODATION: The villa is 110 square meters and can accommodate 5+1 persons in 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. It extends on two levels:
Ground floor: the main entrance on the ground floor opens into the large living/dining room with fireplace where a brickwork arch separate the two areas. On the same floor the fully equipped eat in kitchen and a bathroom with shower.
First floor: On the second floor you can find the 3 bedrooms, one double, one twin (beds can be put together on request) and one single. Beside the bedrooms there is a bathroom with shower. One of the bedrooms opens into a small terrace with table and chairs connected directly to the garden through a stone staircase.
The villa can accommodate 5 persons and a maximum of 6 with a child under 10.
LOCATION: Villa Amelia is located close to Cortona (only 1.5 km away) as well as within easy reach of the most important Tuscan places of interest. The nearest airport is Florence (about an hour and a half). Pisa is about two hours and Rome airports both about two and a half hours away.
Same distance as Cortona you can find the town of Camucia where you can find plenty of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and the railway station.
