In the heart of the Chianti region, 15 minutes drive from Florence, stands Castello Buondelmonti set on a hillside overlooking the valley of the river Pesa.

This extraordinary example of Tuscan medieval castle was built, on the foundations of a Roman Settlement, in the 10th Century by the Buondelmonti family, who ruled the surrounding area as the Imperial Visdomini. Later on they converted the Feudal Castle into a Renaissance Villa between the years 1450 and 1500. In this period the castle was the residence of Caterina Picchena wife of a member of the family Buondelmonti. She became famous for her turbulent love affairs of which the castle was the theatre and the witness.

Castello Buondelmonti has been recently restored and transformed into a luxury holiday home where every detail has been carefully preserved and melted with all the modern comforts to offer all the charm of the historical residence without giving up to the contemporary conveniences such as the swimming pool, internet connexion and an elevator.

Here you can feel all the elegance of the past and sleeping in the antique four poster beds, or walking through the centuries old stone paths, you will be immersed in this ancient atmosphere. The sense of history and culture pervades every corner of this noble residence to make every moment of your stay just unforgettable.

GARDEN & SWIMMING POOL: Built on the steep cliffs on the left bank of the Pesa river Castello Buondelmonti is surrounded by cypress trees and it offers unobstructed views over the Pesa Valley.

On the side of the river Pesa you find a loggia on two levels which was built on the year 1520 as you can read in the inscriptions there. The loggia has three round arches on the ground floor watching the pool and it is perfectly equipped to eat outside. On the upper floor another terrace loggia has three squared arches.

The garden enjoys impressive views overlooking the valley and it has a perfectly manicured lawn and a delicious swimming pool (12 x 5 meters, maximum deep 3 meters) equipped with sun lounges. Outside the gate of the garden there is the parking place.

ACCOMODATION: Castello Buondelmonti can perfectly accommodate comfortably 15 persons but it can sleep up to 20 persons in total in 11 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The structure of the castle is made of two perpendicular parts connected to one another by the squared tower. You enter the villa on the ground floor and access a grand central hall which divides the castle into two main sections.

Ground floor: entrance hall; dining room with fireplace; kitchen area with service bedroom and bathroom in case chef stays in the house; elevator; laundry room; living room with fireplace; bathroom and big central hall; ground loggia with garden and pool; 1 master bedroom (king size) with bathroom en suite and living room.

LOCATION: Castello Buondelmonti is near Florence, as well as within easy reach of the other most important places of historic, cultural and artistic interest in Tuscany. At less than 30 mins drive, Florence airport is the nearest. Pisa airport is about 1 hr and the two Rome airports are about 3 hrs away.

The nearest village is Bargino (about 2 km) where you can find grocery shop and restaurants. Antinori wine cellars in front of the Castle at 2 km distance and closest town San Casciano, banks, supermarket etc. at 8 km.

• If the cancellation is made between 29 and 7 days prior arrival day: 0% of the amount paid.
